Senior Taylor Schaffert (Lockport, NY/Lockport) scored three individual first place finishes for The College at Brockport as the women's swimming and diving team took home the 163-135 win against Nazareth. The men's team finished the evening with a 171-127 loss.
The women's team got off to a strong start as it won the 200 Meter Medley Relay. Schaffert, Melanie Melewski (New Baltimore, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), Rachel Coia (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) and Mary Jane Leja (Auburn, NY/Auburn) finished with a time of 2:04.85.
Schaffert won three of her individual events by one second or more. She won the 100 and 200-meter backstroke as well as the 50-meter freestyle. In the 200-meter backstroke she beat out her competition by more than four seconds.
Melewski also had a strong performance posting two wins individually. She won both the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke.
The women's team dominated the diving events taking the top three places. Freshman Meghann Kilgallon (Binghamton, NY/Windsor) was the top diver in both one and three meter diving events. She was followed by teammates Lydia Allen (Cortland, NY/Cortland) and Kathryn Nau (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili).
Leja placed first in the 100-meter freestyle and Coia won the 100-meter butterfly. The women also won the 400-meter freestyle relay.
The men's team also got off to a strong start finishing less than a second in front of second in the 200-meter medley relay. Eric Zawislak (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield), Austin Moyer (Newport News, VA/Woodside), Christopher Heckman (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and Dustin Wurster (Buffalo, NY/West Seneca West) finished the relay in 1:55.09.
Nik Von Stackelberg (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond) scored two wins for the men's team, winning both the 400 and 800-meter freestyle races. Moyer won the 200-meter freestyle.
Gabriel Arias won both the one and three-meter diving events for the Golden Eagles with scores of 260.3 and 262.4, leaving a large gap between the next competitor's score.
