Freshman James Devine III (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) and junior Jeff Palmeri (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) each pinned their opponents for The College at Brockport Wrestling team in a 41-9 victory Wednesday night in the season-opening dual against Alfred State in Alfred.
Brockport (1-0) also earned points with back-to-back technical falls at 125 and 133 pounds as Asher Kramer (Sloatsburg, NY/Suffern) scored an 18-2 technical fall at 125 pounds and Eric Velez (Medina, NY/Medina) was a 21-6 winner in the 133-pound bout.
Devine pinned his opponent in 5:22 in the 157-pound match while Palmeri finished his match at 184 pounds in just 1:27 of the first period.
Sophomore Michael Falcon (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North) earned an 11-2 decision at 165 pounds and freshman Tyler Vervalin (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) scored a 5-4 victory in the 285-pound bout to wrap up the match.
Brockport was awarded forfeit victories at 141 and 149 pounds while Alfred State (0-1) scored on a 3-2 decision at 174 pounds and a forfeit win at 197 pounds.
Brockport returns to action Saturday at the Mount Union Invitational in Alliance, Ohio.
