Junior Collin Goettel  (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) assisted on the opening goal of the game and scored later to give The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team a 2-0 lead over Salisbury University, ranked #19 in the preseason national poll. The Seagulls answered with two second half goals to force overtime and the teams settled for the 2-2 tie Saturday on the second day of competition at the Salisbury Invitational Classic Tournament.

Goettel made a pass into the box in the 22nd minute that Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) headed into the back of the Salisbury goal for the early 1-0 Brockport lead. Just 13 minutes later, Goettel scored off a corner kick that curled into the goal giving Brockport (1-0-1) the 2-0 advantage.

Salisbury (1-0-1) had an early chance to take a lead after being awarded a penalty kick on the 11th minute after a foul in the box. Goalie Casey Sullivan (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) made a diving save on the shot keeping the Seagulls off the scoreboard.

The physical game resulted in a number of yellow cards being issued including two to Brockport's Mark Sylvia (Northville, NY/Broadalbin-Perth) which sent him off and left the Golden Eagles with 10 players on the field for the final 32 minutes of regulation and the overtime periods.

Late in the second half, a foul was called deep in the Brockport defensive zone and the ensuing kick was deflected on the near post and into the Brockport goal to tie the game with less than seven minutes remaining in regulation time.

In overtime, neither team was able to find the back of the net ending the game in a 2-2 tie.
