Junior Peter DiLorenzo (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) and junior Collin Goettel (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) scored Saturday afternoon leading The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team to a 2-2 tie against Fredonia. The Golden Eagles improve to 5-0-4 on the season, including 1-0-1 against SUNYAC opponents. For Conference tie-breaker purposes only, Brockport won on penalty kicks after the conclusion of the second overtime.

Brockport took the lead early in the second half, after a scoreless first. Senior Paul Altobelli (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) drilled a low crossing pass across the box that was headed by DiLorenzo into the middle of the net past the diving Fredonia goalkeeper. Less than a minute later the Blue Devils answered back with a score of their own to even the score.

The Golden Eagles once again took the lead on a goal by Goettel in the 55th-minute of the game. The Golden Eagles led for the majority of the second half until Fredonia was awarded a free kick from just outside the box at the 84th minute mark. The Blue Devil curved the ball behind a wall of Brockport defenders just inside the left post of the goal to tie the score yet again.

After an uneventful first overtime, Brockport had a strong scoring chance when the team was awarded a free kick for a Fredonia handball five yards outside of the box. DiLorenzo blasted a low kick that was blocked by the Fredonia wall of defenders. As the players scrambled for the rebound another free kick was awarded to Brockport after a foul was called. The kick was lofted towards the net looking for a Golden Eagle head but was snatched away by the Blue Devil goalkeeper.

The Golden Eagles return to Brockport this weekend for their first home SUNYAC contests. On Friday the team hosts Oneonta at 4 pm and on Saturday the team squares off against New Paltz for a 1 pm game.
