Senior Tyler Lusht (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Forks) pinned his opponent in 1:08 of the first round sparking streak of three consecutive victories and leading The College at Brockport Wrestling team to a 32-12 victory over RIT Wednesday evening in Rochester. The win clinched at least a .500 dual record for the Golden Eagles for the 52nd consecutive season.
Brockport (3-0) held a slim 19-12 lead heading into the final three matches of the night. Lusht made quick work of his opponent at 184 pounds with an early take down and then earned the pin just 1:08 into the contest.
Junior Jeff Palmeri (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) followed with a 15-3 major decision victory in the 197-pound bout to extend the Brockport lead to 29-12.
Junior Cole Tristram (Newton Falls, NY/Clifton-Fine) capped the team victory with a 6-1 decision in the 285-pound match.
Brockport opened the match with a forfeit victory in the 125-pound match before junior Eric Velez (Medina, NY/Medina) took an 8-5 decision giving the Golden Eagles a 9-0 lead.
In the 141-pound match, freshman Sean O'Hagan (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY/Sachem North) scored an 11-4 major decision victory extending Brockport's lead to 13-0.
RIT (5-9) battled back with a six-point pin at 149 but Brockport regained the 13-point lead as James Devine III (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) pinned his opponent late in the second period.
The Tigers fought back again with consecutive decisions at 165 and 174 to trim the lead to 19-12 before Brockport closed out the victory with the final three victories.
