BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's soccer posted three second half goals to win in exciting fashion 3-2 over Plattsburgh State on Saturday.
The Green and Gold improve to 11-3-2 and 5-2-2 in league play while the Cardinals fall to 12-3-3 and 4-2-3 in SUNYAC action.
Brockport fell behind mid-way through the first half when Plattsburgh's Alexis Archilla found the back of the net to take the 1-0 lead. Archilla did it again in the 38th minute, this time beating two Brockport defenders and winning a one-on-one with the Brockport net minder to post a 2-0 lead that would extend into the half.
In the second half the Golden Eagles went to work, when just 30 second into the half
David Rougeux found the back of the net off a
Mark Sylvia set up to pull within one.
Peter DiLorenzo netted a pair of goals just five minutes apart, with the first at the 54 minute mark off a
Collin Goettel pass to knot the contest at 2-2. Felling the momentum, DiLorenzo did it again, this time tapping in a Rougeux cross to tatke the 3-2 lead. The Golden Eagles would hold on for the senior day win.
Brockport outshot their counterparts by a margin of 15-8, with 12 shots on goal.
Casey Sullivan picked up three saves in the outing, while the Golden Eagles were awarded five corner kick opportunities.
The Golden Eagles clinched the No. 2 seed in the SUNYAC playoffs, and by doing so earned a first round bye. The Golden Eagles will take on the winners of the 3/6 matchup of Cortland and Buffalo State.
