BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their home season on Saturday, falling to Nazareth College.
The women just missed, falling 171-127 while the men missed by a total score of 190-96.
There were several bright performances on the day, with the diving portion being a highlight. The men and the women both took first in the diving events.
Meghann Kilgallon placed first in both the one-meter and the three-meter events with scores of 253.15 and 248.85 respectivley.
Gabriel Arias also took first in the same events on the men's side, with a 261.30 in the one-meter and a 240.00 in the three-meter event.
In the pool, the women captured several first place finishes.
Holly Jackson swam a time of 1:07.77 in the 100-yard backstroke and a 2:25.33 in the 200-yard back for a pair of first place finishes.
Jenna Gleason took first in the 50-yard freestyle, touching in a time of 26.41.
Mary Jane Leja swam a time of 56.26 in the 100-yard free for a first, with
Ameera Bhanji also taking first in the 100-yard butterfly, swimming a time of 1:05.61. The women's 400-yard relay team took first in the event, with a time of 3:54.72, comprised of Gleason, Jackson,
Paige Kolar and Leja.
On the men's side,
Chase Carson took second in the 100 breaststrokes, touching in a time of 1:07.52.
Liam Henry had a first and second place swim, where he placed second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.96 and took first in the 50 free with a 22.69 swim. The men's 400-yard freestyle relay team also took first, with a team comprised of Carson, Henry,
Matthew O'Donnell and
Ryan O'Meara swimming a time of 3:33.26.
