BUFFALO, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Saturday against SUNYAC foes Buffalo State.
The women's team narrowly missed with a score of 128-116, while the men's squad fell 186-97.
On the women's side,
Paige Kolar had a strong day, taking the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:11.13 immediately following a second place swim in the 1000-yard free, where she swam a 12:11.98.
Holly Jackson took first in the 200-yard I'm, swimming a fast 2:23.74 in the event. Jackson also took first in the 100-yard free, with a time of 58.88.
Jenna Gleason captured first in the 100-yard backstroke, the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke. She took first with a time of 1:06.68 in the 100-yard back, swam a 26.09 in the free and touched in a time of 2:26.96 in the 200-yard swim.
Outside of the pool, the Golden Eagle divers continued to shine, with
Meghann Kilgallon,
Kate Nau and Brook Leddon taking the top three sports in the one-meter dive. Kilgallon and Nau also took first and second in the three-meter event, with Kilgallon scoring a 238.18 and Nau recording a 189.30.
For the men, Matt Merchant picked up his first collegiate win, taking the three-meter diving event with a score of 257.85. Zealand Miller took third with a score of 222.23. On the one-meter dive, Merchant took second, while Gabe Arias finished third.
In the pool,
Chase Carson took first in the 200-yard IM, touching in a time of 2:12.86.
Liam Henry took second in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 54.53.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the pool on Jan. 30 when they host Fredonia. The meet will be Brockport's senior meet, where they will honor their senior member's in a ceremony prior to the meet.
