ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 13/19 Brockport wresting team improved to 3-0 in dual meets on the season with their dominant 33-13 victory over Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Wednesday evening.
After being named Most Outstanding Wrestler at the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference tournament over the weekend, No. 10
Jonathan Haas kept it up with a 23-6 technical fall victory over Connor Wilkins, helping his team hop out to an early 5-0 lead.
Johnathon Lauricella extended that lead to 11-0 in the 133-lb weight class, using just 1:24 before pinning RIT's Isiah Ocasio.
After
Sean O'Hagan fell in a tight 7-3 decision at 141, No. 6
Sean Peacock earned six more points for the Golden Eagles, just besting Lauricella's fall time by pinning Colby Hall 1:11 into the opening round.
Dan Reagan and
Michael Falcon were next up for Brockport, combining for ten more points. Reagan pinned RIT's Dempsey King in 5:47 before Falcon won by major decision, earning four points and giving the team a 27-3 lead, securing the Brockport victory.
The Tigers were able to win three of the final four bouts by either decision or major decision, with the exception of No. 2
Triston Engle who earned his 25th win of the season after a forfeit at the 197-lb weight class.
The wrestling team will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Worcester Match to participate in the WPI Duals.
