ITHACA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport swimming and diving team took on Ithaca College for their first meet of the year Saturday afternoon, with some impressive finishes from the Golden Eagles.
On the men's side,
Matthew O'Donnell,
Chase Carson,
Ryan O'Meara, and
Brandon Amthor tabbed third in the 200-yard medley with a time of 1.56.42.
Logan Gregory finished fifth in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:23.16. He also notched third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:21.17.
Amthor had an impressive first day, finishing first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.15, and first in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.76.
Matthew Merchant took first in both diving events for the men's team, earning a final score of 241.55 in the three-meter dive, and 2.31.65 in the one-meter dive.
The women's team finished the afternoon with some top finishers across all events. In the 200-yard medley,
Dee Logory,
Martha Ruether,
Abby Tripp, and
Kaitlin Dunning placed second with a time of 1:56.42. Tripp also finished second in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.84.
Brockport claimed the top two spots in the women's 50-yard backstroke, with Logory taking the top spot in 29.15, and
Jenna Gleason coming in right behind with a time of 29.37.
Ruether notched a first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.61, while Gleason came in third by a time of 26.17.
Meghann Kilgallon earned first place in the one-meter diver with a final score of 252.10.
Loren Sayers finished fourth with a score of 207.30, and
Brooke Leddon locked in eighth place in the score of 174.80.
Brockport will host their first home meet of the season facing Nazareth College on Saturday Oct. 28th, with the event slated to start at 1 p.m.
