BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's soccer team wrapped up their season on Monday against cross-town rivals, The University of Rochester, falling 2-0.
 
The Golden Eagles are 10-4-3 on the year while the Yellowjackets have a record of 9-2-2.
 
The first half was a battle, with neither team able to break through the defense to post a score. The Brockport defense held UofR to just four first half shots, while they had two opportunities themselves.
 
The second half continued to be a defensive stalemate, with both teams gridlocked. It took a loose ball scrum in front of the Brockport net in the 57th minute, where a blocked shot turned rebound opportunity for the Golden Eagles' opponents that set the Green and Gold back 1-0. Head coach Gary LaPietra's squad wasn't ready to throw in the towel, with the offense working for several corner kick opportunities. The Yellowjackets knocked in one more goal towards the end of the game as Brockport fell 2-0.
 
"It was a difficult loss, we just couldn't find a rhythm," commented head coach Gary LaPietra. "I asked a lot from my tream to play three games in four days and i put that totally on me."

The Golden Eagles will be back in action as they head to the post season, hosting Plattsburgh State on Oct. 28 in the opening round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament.
