BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their home slate on Saturday afternoon, with both teams falling to Nazareth College to drop to 0-2 on the season.
Brandon Amthor had a good showing for the Golden Eagles, winning the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 21.55, besting the second place finisher from Nazareth by nearly a full second. He also took home the top spot in the 200 IM, winning by over nine seconds by a time of 2:01.02.
Matthew Merchant won both the 1 meter and 3 meter dive, blowing away his competition in both events to earn points for the Green and Gold.
Logan Gregory and
Tyler Hyde finished third and fourth respectively in the 500 free, while Hyde recorded a new personal best with his time of 5:34.76.
On the women's side, both the three and one meter diving events were dominated by the Golden Eagles, with
Meghann Kilgallon taking the top spot in both. In the 3 meter dive, Brockport divers finished in the top four spots, with
Loren Sayers,
Kate Nau, and
Brooke Leddon following up Kilgallon.
Brockport teams won both the 400 free and 200 medley relays, squeaking by the second place Nazareth teams by less than four seconds in both races.
Kaitlin Dunning also had a terrific day for the Green and Gold, taking home the top spot in the 50, 100, and 200 meter freestyle events.
Martha Ruether rounded out the Brockport winners on the women's side, taking the 100 meter breast stroke event by less than a second with a time of 1:11.97.
The Golden Eagle swimming and diving team will be back in action next Saturday when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. for a matchup at Monroe Community College.
