Brockport Drops Two On Senior Day

BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The College at Brockport softball team dropped a pair of contests in their season finale on Saturday, falling in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action to Oswego State. The Golden Eagles dropped the first game 3-1 and fell 11-1 in five innings in the final contest.

Brockport ends the season with a record of 18-20 and finished 7-10 in SUNYAC play. With the sweep the Lakers improve to 16-18 on the year and 11-7 in conference play.

Game One
The Green and Gold saw Oswego strike right off the bat, pushing across two runs in the top of the first inning to gain an early 2-0 advantage. The Lakers tacked on their third run of the contest in the fourth frame.

In the third inning Kathleen Laskey doubled to right field to lead off the inning, but was stranded on second base as the next three batters were sat down in order.

Brockport put the pressure on in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Jessica Koneski opened up the frame drawing a walk. Two batters later Taylor Parlet singled to put runners on the corners with two outs. Lexi Abernathy came around to score on a wild pitch cutting the Lakers lead to 3-1. However, Oswego worked out off the jam to secure the 3-1 victory.

Brockport was held to just four hits, with Laksey connecting on the only extra base hit of the game. Becky Knorr went the distance, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and striking out three batters.

Game Two:
The Golden Eagles jumped out in front to start the second game, when Meghan Cullen led off in the first the inning with a single down the left field line and stole second on the next pitch. Lindsay Wachna drove in Cullen, lacing a single to right center field.

Oswego answered in the top half of the second inning, scoring two runs on two hits. The Lakers exploded for nine runs in the third inning, brining 14 hitters to the plate and scoring five runs with two outs.

Brockport was unable to get anything going, only recording three hits in the final three innings of play.
