CLEVELAND, Ohio – The No. 11 ranked College at Brockport wrestling team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating both John Carroll University and Case Western Reserve to move to 3-0 on the season in dual meets.
No. 1 ranked
Jonathan Haas moved to 17-0 on the season in the 125-lb weight class with two more victories on Saturday. He first used a 16-0 technical fall over John Carroll's Alex Reyes before pinning his opponent from Case Western Reserve.
Dillon Stowell followed Haas up with two wins of his own, coming by decision and technical fall. At 141 and 149,
Nathan Walker and
Sean Peacock earned a win apiece, both coming in the 51-0 routing of Case Western Reserve.
At 157,
Corey Farrell picked up a pair of victories by decision, defeating John Carroll's Austin Victor 3-2 and CWRU's Andrew Munn 8-4 to earn six points for the Golden Eagles on the day.
At 165,
Jackson Bell took a loss by decision against John Carroll, but
Richard Mills came through in the second dual of the day, pinning his opponent in 2:12.
Travis Race (174) made up for a loss against John Carroll with a technical fall win over Case.
The final three weight classes went 6-0 on the day, allowing Brockport to close out both of their duals strong.
Thaddus Jeffries (184) had a major decision, and technical fall win, setting up
Triston Engle (197), and
Austin Dean (285), who each pinned both of their opponents on Saturday.
Dean, who was a starter on the Brockport football team earlier this season, made his collegiate wrestling debut, starting things out on the right foot with the two dominant wins.
The wrestling team will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Oswego, N.Y. for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Lakers.
