ALLIANCE, O.H.—The College at Brockport wrestling team, travelled to Mount Union University on Saturday to compete in a competition that included teams such as Ohio Northern, Adrian College, Bellarmine University and of course the hosing Raiders.
Neiko Scarano had a pair of victories for the 125-weight class and worked his way to the fifth place deciding bout. His first win was a 6-4 decision before winning his third bout in a 14-7 decision. Zach Barker finished similarly to Scarano, but in the 141-wight class. After dropping his first match, Barker went on to defeat his second opponent in a 15-2 technical fall, before earning a 10-6 decision, a 6-2 decision and a 14-3 major decision.
Chris Eames grabbed a fifth-place finish in the 174-weight class, winning four of his six matches. He started off with an 8-1 decision, before winning back-to-back bouts with a pin. He nabbed his fifth-place finish with a 2-1 decision.
Joe Yanis was impressive on Saturday, earning second-place in the 197-weight class. He defeated his first three opponents with a pin, but was unable to complete the final bout due to an injury.
Calik Kennedy wrapped up the day for the Golden Eagles with a fifth-place finish in the 285-weight class. After losing in his second match, Kennedy defeated four straight opponents by 3-2 decision, two pins and a 6-0 decision.
Brockport will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. on Sunday, Nov. 18 where they will compete in the New York State Intercollegiate Tournament starting at 9 a.m.
