POTSDAM, NY – The College at Brockport men's ice hockey team defeated SUNY Potsdam Friday night, by a score of 4-2. With the win, the Golden Eagles move to (4-1) on the season and (2-1) in the SUNYAC, while the Bears fall to (3-2) overall and (0-1) in conference.
Potsdam got the best of the Golden Eagles early in this matchup, scoring eleven minutes into the period to take the lead, 1-0. The Bears didn't stop there, tallying their second of the night a minute and a half later to extend their lead by two. The Golden Eagles headed to the locker room down, 2-0.
The second period told a different story for the Green and Gold, as
Mitchell Parsons netted his first goal as a Golden Eagle three minutes in with assists from
Doc Gentzler and
Danny Rock to bring the game within one. Two minutes later, freshman,
Jake Colosanti picked up his first in a Brockport sweater on a power play opportunity, with assists from
Hunter Laslo and Gentzler. The two teams battled as the period winded down but the Golden Eagles found an opening at 15:08 when
Jordan Renaud buried his second goal of the season with assists to
Connor Hutchins and
Aiden Salerno.
The Golden Eagles put the final nail in the coffin at 8:59 of the third period when captain
Connor Hutchins netted a powerplay goal with assists from
Ryan Romeo and Parsons, solidifying the win for the Green and Gold, 4-2.
The Green and Gold are back in action Saturday, Nov. 10 when they take on Plattsburgh State for a 7 p.m. matchup
