BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport wrestling program honored
Jackson Bell,
Teddy Fleming,
Donny McCoy,
Casey Provost,
Ryan Snow and Aaron Wilkinson on Wednesday for their contributions to the wrestling program and Brockport Athletics. After the celebrations, the Golden Eagles went to work against Oswego State and took home a 28-12 victory.
Matt Caccamise earned the first win for the Green and Gold in the way of a forfeit in the 125-pound bout. McCoy quickly pinned his opponent in the 133-pound battle, putting Brockport up 6-0 in a matter of minutes.
Zack Barker's match representing the 141-pound class went the distance, but he dominated in the first period by grabbing a 10-1 lead. The cushion helped him cruise to a 15-4 victory that put the Golden Eagles up 16-0
After a trio of losses by the team,
Chris Eames put up a battle in the 174-pound match, coming away with a 6-4 decision to put the unit back in the winning column. Two matches later,
Joe Yanis put consistent pressure on his opponent, grabbing six points in the second period and two more in the third to take a 9-3 decision and secure the win before the final bout.
Calik Kennedy wasted no time wrapping up is heavyweight matchup, pinning his opponent in 2:41. The outcome gave Brockport their 28-12 win.
The Golden Eagles look toward the weekend where they will host the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championships on Saturday, Jan. 19 in the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC). The tournament will begin at 10 a.m.
