Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport men's soccer team travels for its biggest match of the season on Saturday. Brockport will face off against Geneseo at 1 pm, hoping to earn a spot in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles hosted Houghton College earlier in the week for their final home match of the regular season. The visiting Highlanders won the non-conference matchup, 1-0, in overtime. Brockport outshot Houghton, 17-8, but could not find the back of the net. The loss puts the team's record at 8-7-2 overall.
Key Players: Matthew Stefaniw and
Jeff Hibbard both remain top 10 point scorers in the SUNYAC heading into Saturday's crucial conference contest. Stefaniw is fifth in the conference with 19 points on seven goals and five assists. Hibbard ranks eighth with six goals and three assists for a total of 15 points. Chris Kinsely is second on the team in assists with four on the season, while
Jason Hayes and
Zach Langelotti each have 10 total points.
Playoff Picture: With just one game remaining before the postseason begins, the Golden Eagles find themselves in a win or go home situation. With four teams already clinching a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament, only two openings remain. Cortland and Brockport are currently in, but have to win one more game to clinch. Defeating Geneseo this weekend will put the team at 4-4-1 in the conference and push them into the tournament.
Matchup History: In the last 10 meetings against the Knights, the Green and Gold have a record of 6-2-2. The team defeated Geneseo convincingly with a 5-0 win at home last season.

Scouting Geneseo: Geneseo is 6-8-2 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play this season. Currently on the outside looking in, the Knights are fighting for a chance to make it back to the SUNYAC Tournament after missing out on it in 2018. The team is 3-3-2 at home this year, and most recently tied Nazareth, 2-2, in a non-conference game. Caleb Murthy leads the team with eight points on three goals and two assists.
