BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The Brockport men's ice hockey team welcomes the students and the community to their first two home games of the 2019-2020 season. The Golden Eagles will take on Morrisville for both matchups, the first taking place on Friday at 7 p.m. and the second on Saturday at 4 p.m. Both teams currently hold an undefeated record of 2-0. Brockport is also currently ranked 21st according to the USCHO.
Brockport's Opening Weekend: Last weekend the Green and Gold beat Plattsburgh and Potsdam in their first two contests of the year. Scoring three goals in both competitions, Brockport had five different goal scorers contribute.
Doc Gentzler currently leads the team with two goals and two assists for four points. Goaltender
Matt Schneider started both games allowing only three goals in 120 minutes of play and making 61 total saves. This is the second time in program history where the team has secured two wins when traveling to the north country and faced these teams.
Scouting Morrisville: Both of Morrisville's wins came at Fredonia's expense this past weekend. The matches were almost identical with a final score of 4-3, this first of which, coming to a close in the overtime period. Eric Melso opened the season with a hattrick, including the overtime winner. Despite the multi-point night by Melso, Nick DeVito is the team's point leader with six total points, three goals and three assists. Senior goalkeeper, Jared Young recorded both starts for the Mustangs, and has made an astounding 81 saves through the first two trials.
Senior Night: Brockport's six seniors will be honored Friday night for during the home opener. The seniors include,

Hunter Laslo,
Doc Gentzler,
Aidan Salerno,
Chris Pollini and
Matt Schneider. The full line of graduating players will be missed as they continue on to pursue their dreams.
Shatter The Stigma: The Golden Eagles will also host the Shatter the Stigma event during their home opener in order to bring awareness to the importance of mental health and the role it plays in athletics. The first 300 fans to attend the event will receive a free #ShatterTheStigma t-shirt so be sure to come support the team this weekend and aid in spreading the word about the importance of speaking up.
What's Coming Up: Brockport splits the next weekend with two more SUNYAC matchups, first on the road in Oswego to take on the Lakers Friday at 7 p.m. before traveling back home to host Cortland on Saturday at 4 p.m.
