BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The College at Brockport baseball team were victorious over Alvernia University on Tuesday, 7-5, thanks to 17 hits by the offense and seven scoreless innings by the pitchers.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP –
- The Golden Eagles move to 6-5 on the year
- The Golden Wolves now sit with a 10-5 mark on their season
HOW IT HAPPENED –
- The unit kicked it off with a double by Nicholas Pastore, and later scored on a hard-hit infield single by Lou Miceli
- Alvernia claimed a lead in the bottom of the inning as they knocked in two runs
- Anthony Eaton tied the game up with a double to left field that score Miceli in the third inning
- A batter later, Aaron Cook hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield that allowed Tom Kretzler to tag up from third and take a 3-2 lead
- After the first inning Cooper Meldrim, Kobie Punchard and Trevor McCarthy combined to throw seven scoreless innings, while only allowing two hits
- The Green and Gold added to their advantage in the seventh with an Eaton single to right field that scored Miceli and Kretzler
- In the ninth, back-to-back singles by Cook and Ryan Mansell through the left side, gave the team a crucial pair of runs and a 7-2 lead
- Despite allowing three runs in the ninth, the Golden Eagles were able to hold on for the win by a final of 7-5
KEY GAME STATISTICS –
- Pastore went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored
- Miceli ended his day going 4-for-5 with a double, two runs scores and one RBI
- Eaton and Cook finished with 2-for-4 days, with Eaton recording three RBI and Cook adding two of his own
- Kretzler did his job as the DH going 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two walks
- Meldrim earned the win with a final line of 3.1 IP, three hits, two runs, two walks and two strikeouts
- Maddux Minton tallied the save, getting the final two outs and allowing one hit
KEY SEASON STATISTICS –
- Miceli now holds a seven-game hitting streaking, five of which have been multi-hit games
- Cook record five RBI's in the past two games and now has four multi-hit games
- Kretzler has drawn a walk in nine of the teams 11 games and leads the team in runs scored with 13

- Up next for Brockport is a single game battle against Dickinson College on Wednesday, March 20. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
