LEXINGTON, S.C. – The College at Brockport baseball team split the doubleheader games against Oswego State on Saturday. The Green and Gold won the first matchup 13-4, before dropping game two by a score of 5-1.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP –
- The Golden Eagles now hold a record of 7-8 on the year and 2-3 in SUNYAC play
- The Lakers move to 8-5 this season with the results and 4-1 in conference competition
HOW IT HAPPENED –
Game One: Win, 13-4
- After a quiet first inning, the Green and Gold kick started the offense in the second
- Aaron Cook and Ryan Mansell hit back-to-back singles prior to a two RBI triple by Daniel DelGaizo
- A couple of batters later, Nicholas Pastore made the score 3-0 with an RBI single through the right side
- Justin Valentino continued the offensive pressure in the fourth with an RBI single, before a sacrifice fly to right field pushed the advantage to 5-0
- The Lakers scored their first three runs in the fifth to make the score interesting at 5-3
- Kretzler hit a two RBI single to center field that began a big scoring inning for the Golden Eagles
- Mansell rocketed a double to right center to score Kretzler and make the score 8-3
- Valentino continued his hot hitting with a two RBI single to right field that gave Brockport double digit scoring and a 10-3 lead
- After the Lakers added a run in the top of the eighth, Anthony Eaton and Aaron Cook recorded an RBI in the bottom of the frame to secure the 13-4 victory
Game Two: Lose, 5-1 (7 inn)
- The first four innings of the game was a pitchers dual that saw a combined four hits
- Errors plagued the Green and Gold in the fifth as a pair of mistakes led to two runs by the opposition
- Brockport brought in their one and only run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Miceli that brought in DelGaizo
- The offense did not get going the remaining innings as they fell by a final of 5-1
KEY GAME STATISTICS –
- DelGaizo finished the day 4-for-6 with three runs, two RBI and a triple
- Alex Brown earned the game one win, going 5.0 innings and giving up three runs on six hits and striking out five
- Trevor McCarthy, despite earning the loss, pitched a quality start, going 5.0 innings giving up two runs on two hits, while striking out five

- Up next for Brockport is the final game of the series against Oswego State. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 24.
