ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport baseball team wrapped up their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Saturday with a double header against SUNY Cortland. The games did not go in the teams favor as they dropped both matches, first 18-3 and then 11-4 in the second game.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP –
- The Golden Eagles sit at 15-20 overall in 2019 and 6-12 in conference competition.
- The Red Dragons move to 29-9-1 on the season and 18-0 in SUNYAC games
HOW IT HAPPENED –
Game One: Loss, 18-3
- The game did not begin as planned as they recorded some errors that put them behind 5-0 after one inning.
- Tom Kretzler put Brockport on the board with a long homerun to right field.
- The final inning of the game saw the Green and Gold put up two more runs to help carry momentum into game two.
- After the bases were loaded, Matt O'Dair was hit by a pitch, allowing Reilly Workman to cross home plate.
- Next, Michael Spulnick reached on a fielder's choice and Brad Nowak scored as the final of the game was 18-3.
Game Two: Loss, 11-4
- The Golden Eagles got off to a fast start, knocking in two runs in the first inning.
- After Liam O'Leary, Kretzler and Anthony Eaton worked on base with walks and a hit by pitch, Aaron Cook was able to single and score two runs.
- Miscues were once again a crutch for Brockport as they let up nine runs in the top of the third frame.
- Kretzler once again adding to the teams scoring with a two-run home run to centerfield.
- The team was unable to mount a comeback and fell by a score of 11-4.
UP NEXT –
- Brockport will end their season on the road on Tuesday, April 30 when they travel to the Rochester Institute of Technology for a 4 p.m. game.
