Swimming and Diving Picks Up a Pair of Wins Over Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The College at Brockport swimming and diving teams dominated at Buffalo State Saturday afternoon with both the men's and women's teams bringing home a win. The men's team improves to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in conference and the women's team improves to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference.

Highlights:
 
Men's –
  • The men's team opened up the afternoon in the 200-medley relay where Logan Gregory, Oliver Dragojevic, William Tolpa and Rainer Grimme brought home a first-place finish of 1:43.38.
  • Peter Schmeer and Tyler Hyde were the one-two duo in the 1000-freestyle, grabbing an 11:01.04 and 11:14.91 finish.
  • Matt Dambra posted his first individual top finish of the afternoon in the 200-freestyle, nailing first-place with a time of 1:50.42.
  • Gregory then added his second first-place finish for the Green and Gold in the 100-backstroke with 55.70. Gregory followed this up with another first-place finish in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:07.21. The junior closed out the day a first-place finish in the 200-IM with a time of 2:08.29.
  • The Golden Eagles took the top three spots in the 100-breaststroke, with strong finishes by Dragojevic, Jerome Gordon and Thomas Guilfoyle. Dragojevic posted first with a time of 1:03.24, Gordon second with a time of 1:05.92 and Guilfoyle in third with a time of 1:07.89.
  • Tolpa and Zack Kime found success in the 50-freestyle, posting second and third place overall. Tolpa clocked in at 21.93 and Kime at 23.12.
  • In the men's 3-meter dive, the Golden Eagles took three of the four leaderboard spots. The top finishers included Randy Beach in first with 244.45, Mark Eaton in second with 235.45 and Kurt Mueller in third with a score of 203.20. Eaton was then the solo top finisher in the 1-meter dive with a score of 250.80.
  • Dambra grabbed his second top finish of the afternoon in the 100-freestlye with a first-place time of 49.60. Dambra capped off a strong day in the 500-freestyle with a first-place time of 5:20.14.
  • Dragojevic was the top finisher for the Golden Eagles in the 200-breaststroke, grabbing first overall with a time of 2:24.71. Dragojevic was followed by Gordon and Guilfoyle.
Women's –
  • The women's team had a similar fate in the 200-medley relay with Sarah Mullane, Allison Morrow, Bri Owen and Rebekah Wilkinson posting a first-place finish of 1:58.40.
  • Kaitlin Dunning grabbed a solo first-place finish in the 1000-freestyle with a time of 11:49.99.
  • The Golden Eagles brought home first and second place in the 200-freestyle with standout performances from Nicole Orcutt and Hailey Rossi. Orcutt grabbed first with a time of 2:02.86 and Rossi posted second with a time of 2:09.73.
  • Sawyer Parker and Mullane secured the one-two in the 100-backstroke for the women's team posting times of 1:05.79 and 1:07.08 respectively.
  • Morrow was the solo finisher for the Green and Gold in the 100-breaststroke, grabbing first overall with a time of 1:15.30. Morrow added another first-place finish in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 2:45.48.
  • Orcutt and Hailey Brucato posted first and second respectively in the 200-butterfly with times of 2:22.08 and 2:31.67.
  • Wilkinson and Owen topped the leaderboard in the 50-freestyle, finishing in first and second with times of 27.07 and 27.40.
  • The women grabbed the top three spots in the 1-meter dive with a strong outing from Lexi Foster, Sami Cohen and Moira Kurak. Foster posted first with a score of 236.95, Cohen finished second with a score 168.90 and Kurak in third with a score of 165.95. In the 3-meter dive, Foster and Cohen took first and second with scores of 176.10 and 168.50.
  • In the 100-freestyle, Wilkinson took home first-place with a time of 58.75.
  • Parker added another first-place finish to her successes of the day in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:21.04.
  • Dunning and Dee Logory commanded the 500-freestyle securing first and second place with respectively. Dunning was clocked at 5:41.54 and Logory and 6:06.53.
  • The women's team took one, two, three in the 100-butterfly with top finishes by Orcutt (1:03.05), Owen (1:03.66) and Rossi (1:04.96).
  • Morrow and Brucato took home first and second in the 200-IM, Morrow with a time of 2:26.47 and Brucato 2:31.59.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will close out the regular season next weekend on home turf for their senior day meet against Fredonia at 1 p.m.
