Brockport Hockey Closes Out Non-League Schedule in Pennsylvania Saturday

BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's hockey team is set to travel to Bryn Athyn College in Pennsylvania on Saturday to take on the Lions in the final non-conference contest of the season for the Golden Eagles.  The puck is scheduled to drop at 4 p.m.

One of the Hottest Teams in the Nation: Brockport hockey has now won seven of its last eight contests since the start of the new year.  Over the course of their recent seven game win streak the Golden Eagles outscored their opponents 29-16 and averaged over four goals per contest.  Brockport currently holds 12-7-0 record overall and a 6-5-0 ledger in SUNYAC Conference play. The Golden Eagles have six games left on the regular season docket and six consecutive victories down the stretch would help the Golden Eagles break the program's record for wins in a single season of 17 set back in '68-'69 and '87-'88. Brockport's 15 wins last season were the most since the '87-'88 edition of the Golden Eagles.

All-American Candidate: Junior defenseman Ryan Romeo ranks sixth nationally among defenders with an average of 1.16 points per game.  Over the course of the last eight games he has four goals and five assists.  He is the top scoring defender in the SUNYAC and he leads the team with 22 total points on eight goals and 14 assists.  Romeo and Jake Colosanti are tied for the team lead with eight goals this season.

Approaching 100 Career Points: Senior captain Connor Hutchins has now played in 95 career games and he needs nine more points to reach the 100 point marker for his career.  He now has 33 goals and 58 assists for a total of 91 career points. He is the program's active career scoring leader.

All-Time Wins Record in His Sights: Senior goalie Matt Schneider has 10 wins this season and 27 for his career in the green and gold.  He needs just two more wins to tie the school-record for career goalie wins set back in 2010 by Todd Sheridan.  Schneider has played in 57 career games and he has 1,266 career saves to go along with a 2.81 career goals against average.

Piling Up the Points: Brockport has spread the scoring wealth generously throughout the lineup this season and the Golden Eagles now have ten skaters with 10+ points this season.  Jordan Renaud ranks second on the team with 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. He currently is tied for eighth in the nation with three game-winning goals.  Doc Gentzler and Hutchins are tied with Renaud for second with 16 points apiece.  Jeremy Solat has 12 points (five goals, seven assists), while freshman Anthony Hora has 11 (three goals, eight assists).  Danny Rock, Jake Colosanti, Ethan Solat and Corey Tam round out the double-digit scorers for the Golden Eagles.

Meet Bryn Athyn: The Lions have won two of their last three games and currently hold a 9-8-3 overall record. Bryn Athyn is currently one of just four division III independent teams.  Devon Becker leads the Lions with 25 points this season on nine goals and 16 helpers.

Next Up: Brockport remains on the road next Friday as they return to SUNYAC Conference play when they take on Cortland at 7 p.m.  The Golden Eagles will be looking for the regular season sweep of the Red Dragons after defeating Cortland at home, 2-1, back on November 16th
