BROCKPORT, NY – The SUNY Brockport wrestling team lost a tight dual 23-17 against visiting and nationally-ranked No. 20 Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium.

It was the first dual meet loss of the season for the Golden Eagles who saw their record drop to 8-1 on the year. RIT improved to 6-3 overall on the season with the victory.

Nationally-ranked No. 6 Matt Caccamise got Brockport started on the right foot as he posted a 19-3 technical fall victory over RIT's Chris Dean in the 125 pound weight class.

Elijah Sims earned a 10-3 decision victory over RIT's Isaiah Ocasio in the 141 pound weight class, while Austin Reed also posted a decision victory (6-3) over Austin Lamb at 149 pounds to push Brockport out to a quick 11-4 lead.

RIT answered with 11 straight team points to take a 17-11 lead in the match before Brockport's Joe Yanis posted a huge pin in the 184 pound weight class to knot the score at 17-17.  Yanis pinned RIT's Colby Giroux at 6:36 to earn six team points for the home team.

The visitors were able to muster six points in the final two matches of the evening to earn the victory.
