Ithaca, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's swim and dive team competed at the Ithaca Tri Meet on Saturday to begin the season. The team defeated Buffalo State 170-111 and lost to Ithaca 67-230, opening the year at 1-1.
In her collegiate debut, freshman
Elizabeth Sagan earned two second place finishes individually. She swam a time of 25.45 for second in the 50-yard freestyle and a time of 57.51 for second in the 100-yard freestyle.
Bri Owen clocked in at 29.47 and 1:08.16 in the 50 and 100-yard butterfly events respectively. Owen took third place in both events for the Golden Eagles. Freshman diver
Kyra Russ placed fourth in both the 1 and 3-meter diving events on the day.
The 400-yard freestyle relay squad of
Elizabeth Sagan,
Bri Owen,
Sawyer Parker, and
Nicole Orcutt placed third with a time of 3:58.06.
Hailey Rossi swam a time of 35.19 to finish second in the 50-yard breaststroke.
Allison Morrow joined Parker, Owen, and Sagan to take third in the 400-yard medley relay. The squad clocked in at 4:25.74 in the event. Morrow also took third in the 50-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Sawyer Parker earned two fourth place finishes individually on the day in the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard backstroke events. Teammate
Nicole Orcutt snagged a fourth-place finish as well with her performance in the 500-yard freestyle.
The Golden Eagles compete in their home pool the next time out, as they play host to Oneonta. The dual meet is set to begin at 1 pm on Saturday, October 30
th.
