Brockport Falls to Oswego State 2-1; Snaps Five Game Win Streak

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles dropped their first game of the season on Friday night by a score of 2-1 to visiting Oswego State (3-2-1,3-0-1).
 
The Programs most consecutive wins streak was halted at five games and ties the program record set back in 1980. For Brockport, Ryan Romeo scored the only goal on an unassisted play.
 
Oswego State scored first as both teams played nearly a solid first half of defense before The Lakers got on the board at the 14:46 mark of the first period on a power-play goal.
 
The Lakers second goal also came off a power-play opportunity at the 11:46 mark of the second period to give Oswego State a 2-0 lead.
 
Ryan Romeo then tallied the only goal for the Golden Eagles all night with 4:08 remaining in the second period to make the game closer with a score of 2-1.
 
The third period proved to be a scoreless one, but the Golden Eagles didn't go down without a fight as a power-play opportunity by Brockport with 1:08 left in the game allowed Bport to also pull its goalie for a 6-4 man advantage that the Golden Eagles could capitalize on as Oswego State took home the win.
 
The big story for both sides was the power-play opportunities as Oswego state went 2-5 on power-plays while Brockport couldn't capitalize on any going 0-5. A total of 17 penalties were given between both teams with Oswego recording nine and Brockport eight.
 
The Golden Eagles put a total of 31 shots on goal as Jacob King led the charge with a total of five shots. In Net, Nolan Egbert recorded a career high 34 saves, allowing two goals off Oswego power-plays. In faceoffs, Brockport managed to beat Oswego in the stats line going 30 for 57 with Jacob King winning 16 of his 24 faceoffs for Brockport.
 
The Golden Eagles will hit the road for their first SUNYAC away game this season, traveling to Cortland to battle the Red Dragons at 7pm on Saturday night. The Red Dragons are currently coming off tying #1 SUNY Geneseo on Friday night.
