Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport swim and dive team is set for another road trip for a meet at Oswego State. The action gets started in the pool at 1 pm on Saturday, November 20
th.
Last Meet: Last weekend Brockport was on the road competing against SUNY Potsdam in some dual meet action. The women's team dominated by placing first in 15 of the 16 events at the meet. They improved to 3-1 on the season with a winning score of 197-78. The men dropped to 1-3 on the year after the 129-140 loss.
Weekly Award Winners: Earlier this week, three of the four swim and dive weekly honors went to the Golden Eagles. Mark Eaton and
Kyra Russ were named PrestoSports Divers of the Week, while
Nicole Orcutt earned Women's Swimmer of the Week. Brockport has had at least one weekly award winner each week so far this season under first year Head Coach
Zack Wahl. Eaton and Russ both took first place on the 3-meter and 1-meter board last weekend at Potsdam. Orcutt won three events individually with her performances in the 200-fly, 500-free, and 1,000-free. She also was on the 200-free relay team that earned first.
Women's Highlights: Orcutt was joined by
Elizabeth Sagan,
Sawyer Parker, and
Allison Morrow for first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The women's 200-yard medley relay team won with a time of 1:58.19, which featured
Bri Owen along with Sagan, Parker, and Morrow. Clocking in at 2:06.89,
Sawyer Parker earned one of her two individual victories at the meet. Her second win on the day came with a time of 2:26.72 in the 200-yard backstroke. Teammate
Corinne Wilson won the 100-yard backstroke event thanks to a mark of 1:09.47.
Allison Morrow took first in the both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events with times of 1:14.92 and 2:40.71 respectively. Freshman
Elizabeth Sagan continues to perform well in her first season at the collegiate level. She placed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.18 and in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.91. Senior
Bri Owen registered a first-place time of 1:05.98 in the 100-yard butterfly competition.
Men's Highlights: Matthew Chan swam a time of 2:17.94 to take first place in the 200-yard butterfly event. Billy Tolpa's time of 23.68 in the 50-yard freestyle was also good for first. Cody Conte won the 500-yard freestyle race with his mark of 5:39.81. Oliver Dragojevic earned the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke with his time of 2:20.01. He also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:03.64. The 200-yard medley relay squad of Matthew Chan, Oliver Dragojevic, Logan Kime, and Billy Tolpa swam a second-place time of 1:45.72. The 200-yard freestyle relay team also finished second, as the team featured Oliver Dragojevic, Mark Eaton, Ryan Sampson, and Billy Tolpa.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles look towards the Cougar Splash Invitational, after the short Thanksgiving break, on December 3
rd and 4
th. The invitational is hosted by Misericordia University down in Dallas, PA and starts at 6 pm that Friday for day one and at 9 am Saturday for day two.
