Ice Hockey Looks To Sweep The Kangaroos in a Weekend Series Showdown

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team will look to sweep SUNY Canton this weekend in a non-conference game as the Golden Eagles faceoff against the Kangaroo's Friday, January 21st and Saturday, January 22nd. Friday night, Brockport will host SUNY Canton for a 7pm puckdrop at the Tuttle North Ice Arena. 24-hours later, The Golden Eagles will then travel to SUNY Canton to take on the Kangaroos on the road at 7pm in Canton, NY.
 
Weekend Recap: This past week the Golden Eagles defeated Lebanon Valley College by a score of 3-1. Jake Colosanti, Connor Galloway and Mitchell Parsons each scored a power-play goal in the teams efforts. Colosanti, Anthony Hora and Sam Dibitetto each recorded an assist as Ryan Romeo picked up two assists against the Flying Dutchmen. Romeo's two assists gives him a total of 17 this season, ranking him fourth in the nation amongst all skaters.
 
National Rankings: Aside from ranking fourth in the nation in assists, team co-captain Ryan Romeo ranks first amongst all defenders and tied for fourth in the nation amongst all skaters in points (25). Romeo also ranks tied for 16th in the nation in power-play goals as he's scored four so far this year.
 
Other Brockport scoring leaders include freshman Jacob King who has been putting on an impressive rookie season. King ranks tied for 29th in the nation in goals (9) and tied for 35th in the nation in points (18). Freshman Andrew Harley rounds out Brockport scoring leaders of the top 50 in the nation for assists as he has recorded 11 assists ranking him tied for 43rd in the nation.
 
In net, Goaltender Nolan Egberts numbers keep improving as he has the 11th lowest goal against average in the nation (1.65%). Egberts save percentage also ranks 11th in the nation as he's saved .941% of shots faced so far this season. Spending a lot of time in the crease, Egbert has accumulated nearly 654-minutes of play, ranked 18th highest in the nation.
 
As a team, Brockport's offense ranks as the 17th best in the nation averaging 3.87 goals per game having scored 58 goals in 15 games. Brockport team defense ranks tied for 10th in the nation having only allowed 1.93% of goals per game having let in 29 goals this season.
 
Looking at the Roos: SUNY Canton is 6-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 against other Division III Independent opponent. Jesse Farabee is the Kangaroo's leading goals and points scorer for the season. So far, he's recorded six goals and three assists for nine points. Leading the team in assists are Brady Morrison and Brendan McCormack who have both recorded seven assists this season. In goal, Pierce Diamond has spent the most time in net for Canton as he's started in all eight games, he's appeared in. allowing 26 goals against opposing teams, Diamond has a goals against average of 3.22 with a save percentage of .878%. Flip Schlyter is a backup goaltender option that Brockport could see this weekend as he's started in four games allowing 10 goals and averaging 2.52% goals allowed per game.
 
Looking ahead: Following this weekend's pair of non-conference games, The Golden Eagles will head up north to resume SUNYAC play. Brockport will spend the weekend facing off against SUNY Potsdam on Friday, January 28th and Plattsburgh State on Saturday, January 29th. both games are scheduled to start at 7pm.
