Brockport Wrestling Dominates Oswego & Pitt. Bradford in Home Opener

The SUNY Brockport wrestling team went 2-0 in two dual meets against Pitt. Bradford and Oswego State at home on Saturday afternoon.  The Golden Eagles cruised past Pitt. Bradford 45-3 and went on to earn a convincing 44-8 victory over Oswego in the nightcap.  Nationally-ranked 125-pounder Matt Caccamise dominated his competition, earning two fall victories in less than 15 seconds each.  Nationally-ranked heavyweight Richard Knapp also put on another impressive performance as he pinned both of his opponents. 

The Golden Eagles are now 2-0 in duals this season and they will return to the mat on January 29th when they travel to Worcester Polytechnic Institute for a dual at 11 a.m.

Brockport 45, Pitt. Bradford 3 – Final
Caccamise got Brockport going with a pin of Jestin Poruban in just 15 seconds to kick off the 125 pound weight class against Pitt. Bradford.  141-pounder Elijah Sims kept the ball rolling as he pinned his opponent in just 40 seconds to give Brockport a quick 18-0 lead through three matches. 

Marquis Larmond earned a 10-8 decision over Elijah Hernandez and Jared Zenie earned a 3-0 victory at 174 to give Brockport a 30-3 lead with three weight classes left.  Chris Eames added to the domination as he pinned Pitt. Bradford's Nathan Powley in 2:05, before Corey Snyder earned a thrilling 7-6 victory at 197. 

Richard Knapp closed out Brockport's first dual with a fall victory in 52 seconds against Pitt. Bradford's Shaquan Bagot to hand the Golden Eagles a 45-3 victory. 

Brockport 44, Oswego 8 – Final
Caccamise got Brockport going in its second dual of the day as he pinned Oswego's Matthew Laubach in just 14 seconds to hand the Golden Eagles an early 6-0 lead. Caccamise improved his record to 10-2 on the season. Elijah Sims followed with a fall victory over William Piatti in 4:58 and Brockport held a commanding 18-0 lead through three weight classes.  Sims is now 4-1 on the year. 

Marquis Larmond earned an 18-6 major decision win over Oswego's Nicolai Celestain in the 149 pound matchup, before Austin Reed followed with a MD victory of his own, 17-3, at 157.  Larmond now has a 12-6 record this season and Reed is 14-6. 

Chris Eames, Nick Franco and Richard Knapp capped the meet with fall victories at 184, 197 and 285, respectively.  Eames pinned Bryce smith in 2:47. Franco earned a fall victory over Anthony Cascen in 1:30 and Knapp closed out the meet with a pin of Jaden Hall in 1:17.  Eames improved his record to 10-5 on the year.  Franco is now 7-6 and Knapp has an impressive 16-2 record.
