Brockport Swim & Dive Celebrates Senior Day Against St. Lawrence

The Brockport swim and dive program hosted visiting St. Lawrence for senior day at the James B. Fulton Natatorium on Friday afternoon.  Prior to the start of the meet the Golden Eagles celebrated their eight seniors who were competition in the final home meet of the season: Cody Conte, Mark Eaton, Kevin Kantar, Moira Kurak, Allison Morrow, Bri Owen, Billy Tolpa and Kaite Wilson

The St. Lawrence women won the dual meet over host Brockport 125-108. St. Lawrence did not have a men's team compete, but Brockport's men's team was still able to post qualifying results.  The Golden Eagles return to the pool on Saturday when they travel to Fredonia for their final meet before the SUNYAC Championships (1 p.m.). The SUNYAC Championships will take place Feb. 16-19 at the ECC Flickinger Center in Buffalo. 

Three Golden Eagles qualified for the SUNYAC Championships for the first time in their careers, including Logan Kime (100 butterfly, 1:00.60), Emily Comer (100 freestyle, 58.65) and Kaite Wilson (100 butterfly, 1:10.47). 

Nicole Orcutt won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:18.75. She also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.95.  She added a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.06. 

Elizabeth Sagan won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.20 and she added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.93.  Allison Morrow won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.41.  Morrow added an event victory in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:36.21.

St. Lawrence did not field a diving team, but the Golden Eagles competed.  Kyra Russ won the 1-meter dive with a score of 2:30.85. Russ added a victory in the 3-meter dive with a score of 224.78. Mark Eaton won the 3-meter dive with a score of 259.35 and he was just two points shy of a regional qualification with a score of 273.00 in the 1-meter dive.

Brockport's Oliver Dragojevic won the men's 100 freestyle with a time of 52.49. He was also the second leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay. He teamed up with Ryan Sampson, Logan Kime and Cody Conte with a winning time of 1:37.93. Taylan Getiren won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.19.  Matthew Chan won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.50.

Cody Conte
Cody Conte joined the team this season as a graduate student. After finishing his bachelor's in science degree in Health and Physical Education at Ithaca College in 2021. He is planning on graduating from the graduate school in spring of 2023 with his Adapted Physical Education master's in education. Cody is from east Williston NY and swam for the Long Island Express team in his childhood. This is Cody's 16th year of swimming. His favorite events are the 1000 and 500 free, both of which he will be competing in as a part of Brockport's 2022 SUNYAC team.

Mark Eaton
Mark came to the program as a freshman in 2018 from his home team at Campbell-Savona High School. In his career he has qualified for the NCAA Regional Diving Championship twice, SUNYAC's three times and has received SUNYAC's diver of the week multiple times. His favorite dive is a 107c on three meter and he looks forward to representing the school this upcoming February. He is studying Environmental Science and is excited to graduate this spring. One more time for Mark Eaton!

Kevin Kantar
Kevin joined the team his freshman year back in 2018 after swimming for the Condors Swim Club as well as his high school team in Yonkers. His favorite event is the 100 backstroke, and he looks forward to representing the team this February by competing in that event at the SUNYAC meet. Kevin is studying Kinesiology and minoring in Biology. He is excited to graduate this spring and plans on teaching high school science and coaching his home club team. Let's hear it for Kevin Kantar!
 
Moira Kurak
Moira joined the group as a sophomore in fall of 2019 after being a part of the gymnastics squad her freshman year. She had no previous diving history before joining that fall but has made SUNYAC's each year. She is majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Forensic Science and Psychology. After graduating this spring Moira plans to pursue a career with the FBI. Ladies and gentlemen, Moira Kurak!
 
Allison Morrow
Allison has been a part of the team since her freshman fall semester in 2018. She has made SUNYACS all four years and has even placed 7th in the 400IM in 2020. Her favorite event is the 200 breaststroke which she is undefeated in this season. She looks forward to competing in this event and a few others this February. Allison is studying Environmental Science with a concentration in terrestrial ecology and is excited to garner more experience in the Environmental science field and pursue graduate school after graduating this spring. Let's hear it for Allison Morrow!

Brianna Owen
Bri joined the team her sophomore fall semester in 2018. Since then, she has been a part of the SUNYAC team each year and has even broken the school record for the 100 butterfly back in 2020. She loves to compete in the 100 fly as well as sprint freestyle events. Bri is a nursing major minoring in biology and plans to pursue a career as an Intensive Care Nurse after graduating this spring. Ladies and gentlemen, Brianna Owen!
 
Billy Tolpa
Billy has been on the team since his freshman year in 2018. Since joining he has qualified for SUNYAC's each year and was a part of both the 200 and the 400 Medley Relay team's that broke the school's records back in 2020. His favorite events are the 50 and 100 freestyle both of which he is excited to compete in this February. Billy is majoring in Kinesiology and Business. After graduating this spring, he plans to work at his family's salvage yard and coach swimming. One more time for Billy Tolpa!
 
Kaite Wilson
Kaite joined the program her senior year after missing the sport for so long. She is majoring in Journalism and broadcasting with a concentration in media production and Graphic Design. Her favorite events are the mile and the 100 backstroke. She has had such a great time this year running the media aspect of the team and swimming with her sister one last time.  After she graduates this spring, she plans to attend graduate school to pursue a master's degree in Sports Management with hope to work for the NHL, NBA, NFL or Disney and Marvel later on down the line. Let's hear it for Kaite!
