Swim & Dive Head to Oswego for a Battle on Lake Ontario

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving team will be traveling to compete at SUNY Oswego Saturday December 3rd at 1pm at Laker Pool, in Oswego.
 
Last Race Recap: At the end of day three at the Oberlin Mid-Season Championship style meet the Women placed second with a final score of 831 and the Men finished 10thwith a total of 353 points. 
 
The Men held it down with a nice sixth place finish from Luca Olivieri in the 200-yard backstroke. He scored 24 points for the Green and Gold and hit the pads at a 2:00.65. Jace Frederickson touched soon after, sneaking into the top 16, in 15th place with a 2:06.25, scoring 12 points for the Green and Gold.
 
Oliver Dragojevic pulled out a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a 2:15.66 scoring 23 points. Taylan Getiren snuck into the top 24, scoring 6 points for the Men with a 2:31.70.
 
Matthew Chan got four points for the Men in 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:13.71, two seconds faster than his prelim time. 
 
The Men finished up the weekend of tough swims with a ninth-place finish in the 400-yard freesyle relay. The team of Luca OlivieriJoe KeeneyOliver Dragojevic and Jace Frederickson touched the pads at 3:22.77 scoring 40 points for the Golden Eagles. 
 
Down in the diving well Kurt Mueller placed third in the 3-meter diving event with a score 376.75, recording 27 points. Ren Watson placed fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 328.85, scoring 26 points for the Golden Eagles. 

The Women started the final session off strong. Miya Vitale pulled out a second-place finish with a 2:11.75 200-yard backstroke. She scored 28 points for the Green and Gold and was .70 milliseconds of the previously held school record of 2:11.05, held by Taylor Schaffert in 2013.
 
Elizabeth Sagan swam another fast 100-yard freestyle, placing second with a time of 53.58. She scored 28 points for the team with that race, just a second off her Championship race we saw last February at SUNYAC's. Sawyer Parker snagged points in the 100-yard freestyle with a 17th place finish with a. time of 56:10 scoring 9 points for the Green and Gold. 
 
The 200-yard butterfly was another high scoring event for the women with a fifth-place finish by Nicole Orcutt scoring 25 points. Emi Wilck placed 17th, scoring 9 points for the Golden Eagles with a time of 2:44.79.
 
Emily LeFrois-Heath switched gears in the 1650-yard freestyle, placing fourth with a time of 18:41.02, scoring 26 points. Hannah Pauly placed 11th with a time of 20:14.70, scoring 16 points and Esther Zadov scored seven points, with a 20:51.81, 18th place finish.
 
The Women finished off the meet with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Elizabeth Sagan, Sawyer Parker, Nicole Orcutt and Emily LeFrois-Heath touched the pads with a 3:38.28, scoring 56 points for the Golden Eagles, five seconds of the team record of 3:33.63.
 
Down in the diving well Kyra Russ placed first on the 1-meter diving event with a score 346.35, scoring 32 points. Caroline Rossi placed third on the 1-meter with a score of 294.75 scoring 27 points for the Green and Gold.
 
Looking at the Lakers: Going into Saturday's match up the Oswego State Women's team is 0-2. They have a total of seven women competing in the pool, and one down in the diving well. 
 
The Men are also 0-2 overall and have thirteen swimmers in the pool with no one competing down in the well. 
 
Athletes of The Week: Up to this point of the season three women and one man, have won Athlete of the Week and one has been awarded that title twice. Caroline Rossi snagged Diver of the week on October 31st. Both Emily LeFrois-Heath and Kyra Russ swept the board brining both the Swimmer of the week and Diver of the week, back to Brockport the week of November 14th. Kurt Mueller also snagged Diver of the week, the week of November 14th after qualifying for NCAA Regionals. Russ was chosen as Diver of the Week again the following week, November 21st.  
 
Up Next: Following the meet this weekend at Oswego State, the Golden Eagles will take some time of over winter break before pushing the pedal to the metal at their training trip in Florida. Once they return from the south the team will host the Buffalo State Bengals on January 13th, 1pm at the James B. Fulton Natatorium in Brockport New York, for their first competition of the New Year.
