Ice Hockey Prepares for Big Weekend Ahead

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team (13-6-1, 6-4-1) looks at a big SUNYAC weekend ahead of themselves as they'll travel to #13 Oswego State (14-4-1, 9-1-1-) on Friday, February 4th, before hosting SUNY Cortland (10-9-1) on Saturday, February 5th at the Tuttle North Ice Arena. Both games are schedule to begin at 7pm.

 Facing off against Morrisville for the second time this season on Wednesday, Robert FlanneryAndrew HarleyCasey WinnMitchell Parsons and Scott Ramaekers all scored goals for the Golden Eagles in the game with while Connor Galloway lead the team in assists with two as Andrew HarleyJake MendeszoonChris Aarons, Trevor Pray and Mitchell Parsons each tallied an assist in the teams 5-2 victory over the Mustangs. Nolan Egbert earned his tenth career win in goal as a Golden Eagle following tonight's win. the goaltender made 19 saves playing all 60-minutes 
 
National Rankings
Three Golden Eagles are ranked amongst three categories in the national statistics board according to USCHO.com. Sophomore Andrew Harley has been on fire the past two weeks as the sophomore Brockport native has recorded a total of 12 points in five games with six goals and six assists. With 27 total points this season (11-16-27), Harley is tied for 11th in the nation in points, tied for 17th in assists (16) and tied for 26th in goals (11). Co-Captain of the team Ryan Romeo's 32 points is currently tied for fourth in the country, ranked third in assists (21) and tied for 26th in the nation in goals (11). Connor Galloway is currently tied for 27th in the country in assists with 15 this season as his 23 points ranks him at tied for 39th in the country. Netminder Nolan Egbert (10-4-1) is currently ranked 11th in minutes played for a goaltender as he's spent nearly 894-minuts in net for the Golden Eagles this season. During that time, he's been able to hold a save percentage of 0.932%, tied for the 13th highest in the country and a goal against average of 1.88, the 13th lowest in the country.
 
Team Stats
Brockport as a team is averaging 3.9 goals per game as they've made 78 goals in 20 games while making 135 assists. The team is nearing 100 power-play opportunities as they've recorded 98, the most in the SUNYAC, so far capitalizing on 22 of those chances for a 22.4 power-play percentage which ranks fourth in the conference. They have the third best power play kill at 84.6% and the second lowest goals against average in the conference with 1.95. in the Nation, Brockport's overall offense is ranked 12th in the nation with its defense ranked seventh in the country, just ahead of #13 Oswego States.
 
Looking at Oswego (14-4-1, 9-1-1-)
The last time Brockport and Oswego faced off was back on November 19th where the Golden Eagles lost a close 2-1 game. Currently, Brockport is on a 12 game losing streak to the Lakers and hopes to change that this Friday night. The Lakers are currently ranked tied for 1st in the SUNYAC with #2 SUNY Geneseo at 28 points each. Junior Travis Broughman has been leading the Lakers offensive charge with 10 goals-14 assists and 24 points and ranked 24th in the country in points. Alex Dicarlo and Connor Sleeth are tied for second on the team in points with 18 each as Dicarlo's scored 10 goals with eight assists with Sleeth Scoring five goals on 13 assists. Steven Kosikoski (11-3-1) has recorded three shutouts in goal for Oswego this year spending nearly 898-minutes in net with a goal against average of 1.74 and save percentage of .937%.
 
Looking at Cortland (10-9-1, 6-4)  
The Red Dragons are currently on a four game losing streak and will host #2 SUNY Geneseo on Friday night before traveling to SUNY Brockport. The last time Cortland and Geneseo faced off The Red Dragons tied the Knights 2-2, the only team to do so all season. When Brockport last traveled to Cortland on November 20th, The Red Dragons defeated the Golden Eagles by a score of 4-2. Looking to even out the season series at 1-1, Brockport will have to look out for the team's leading point scorer Michael Sciore who has recorded 18 points on seven goals and 11 assists this season. Leading Cortland in goals is Sutter Donegan with nine and the teams assist leader is Johnny Fiacchini with 13. Luca Durante has been Cortland's primary goaltender spending nearly 896-minutes in goal recording a 2.45 goals against average and .932 save percentage.

What's Next
After this weekend's pair of SUNYAC Contest's the Golden Eagle's will host the Buffalo State Bengals of Friday February 11th at 7pm in the teams Whiteout & Teddy Bear Toss Game! Every fan who brings a new stuffed animal will gain FREE entrance to the game and following Brockport's first goal will throw the stuffed animals out onto the ice.
