OSWEGO, NY – The #22 SUNY Brockport Baseball team defeated the #11 Oswego State Lakers in the 2022 SUNYAC Tournament on Friday during the semifinal game by a score of 12-4. The Golden Eagles will now advance to play in the SUNYAC Finals in a must-win game of the double-elimination tournament. With #12 SUNY Cortland 2-0, Brockport will need two wins tomorrow to be crowned the 2022 SUNYAC Baseball Champions.
The Great One: Tom Kretzler had himself a big four-hit game as the graduate student went 4-for-6 with a triple and home run and was just a double shy of hitting for the cycle. He drove in five RBIs and scored two runs. His four-hit game pushed him to break the school's record in career hits with 197. Kretzler now own's the school record for hits (197), doubles (47), and home runs (36) along with holding second place in triples (11) behind teammate
Nicholas Pastore (13). Kretzler also holds the record for RBIs in a career (156) and single-season (59) along with the single-season record in home runs (15) he also tied today's record for the most runs scored in a season (43) and holds the record for the most games played in a career at SUNY Brockport (175).
Ryan Mansell went 3-for-5 as the senior on SUNY Brockport's graduation day hit a double along with the Golden Eagle's go-ahead game-winning home run in the seventh inning.
Nicholas Pastore went 3-for-6 against the Lakers with a double in today's game along with one stolen base. Pastore is now a perfect 17-for-17 on stolen base attempts.
James Houlahan,
Matt O'Dair, and
Zach Eldred all had two-hit games as Eldred recorded a double and an RBI while Houlahan scored two runs while he O'Dair also drove in an RBI against Oswego.
Matt McGowan got the start in today's game as the opener for Brockport before
Colin Pytlak entered in a 2-0 ball game. Pytlak left Oswego State with only five hits in 4.2 innings of work while allowing only one unearned run to score to keep the game tied at 3-3 before
Adam Douglas would take over in the sixth inning with one out remaining.
For The Win: Douglas (2-0) would then strikeout three batters while only allowing one run to score throughout 3.1 innings to pick up his second win of the season. A big three-run inning from Brockport in both the top of the seventh and eighth put the Green and Gold up 10-4 heading into the ninth inning.

Brockport would then score two more runs in the ninth inning with Douglas shutting out the Lakers in the bottom of the ninth to secure Brockport's 12-4 victory over the Lakers.
SUNYAC FInals: Brockport will now advance to tomorrow's finals where they will have to win two games against #12 Cortland who is undefeated in the double-elimination tournament. The first game of tomorrow is set for the first pitch to be thrown out at noon with game two taking place approximately 30-minutes following the conclusion of game one if necessary.
