BROCKPORT, NY- The SUNY Brockport men's soccer team will travel to Growney Stadium to play the St. John Fisher Cardinals on Wednesday, September 7
th at 7pm in Pittsford, New York.
Weekend Recap: The Golden Eagles battled it out in a tight match for the full 90 minutes against Elmira College on Saturday.
Seamus Parker and
Matthew Stefaniw both scored critical goals in the second half on the way to a 2-2 draw with the Soaring Eagles. The tie brings Brockport to 0-0-2 on the season, while Elmira goes to 1-0-1.
Taylor Holds it Down: Andrew Taylor got the start again in net for the Green and Gold. Taylor recorded five saves in a full 90-minute effort against Elmira. He has played two complete games as the team's goalkeeper and has totaled seven saves so far this year.
Offensive Leaders: Matthew Stefaniw is currently leading the team with three points from one goal and one assist.
Seamus Parker and
Russ Domm both have two points from one score after the first two matches. With one assist each,
Warren Banks and
Max Voyer both have one point for Brockport.
Looking at the Cardinals: St. John Fisher University has one goal from their last two games, and has gotten off to a 0-2 start to the 2022 season. Brennan Brown is the lone goal scorer for the Cardinals, with Justin Bonetto getting the assist. Goalkeeper Jadon Schlierf has played two complete matches for the squad, totaling 10 saves and four goals allowed. Brockport has beaten Fisher in each of the last three meetings and is 7-2-1 over the last 10.
Up Next: Another non-conference matchup is in on the horizon as the Golden Eagles take on Nazareth College this Saturday, September 10th. It will be their home opener on the new turf, under the lights at 7:30pm on Dr. Linda Arena Field.
