Brockport, NY - The SUNY Brockport wrestling team will be traveling to Worcester, MA to compete in Tri-Match action against Johnson & Wales University and host Worcester Polytechnic Institute this Saturday, January 28
th at 11 am.
Ranked Golden Eagles: Senior
Michael Sullivan is slotted in at 8
th overall in the 197lb division in the latest Open Mat NCAA Division 3 rankings.
Senior Elijah Sim remains inside the top-20 in the rankings at 17th overall in the 149lb division.
Last Match Recap: The Golden Eagles competed at the New York State Intercollegiate Open at RIT.
Isaiah Jackson placed 5
th overall in the 125-pound weight class. Jackson fell in the first round 11-2, before receiving a bye. He then won by a 12-9 decision over Diego Colon-Perez of Hunter College. He won his third round by medical forfeit and then fell in his final match 13-0.
Spencer Maja competed in the 133-pound weight class, winning his second match, by an 11-9 decision.
Jaden Friel earned the Golden Eagles a win in his first round by a 6-5 decision as well as his second by a fall at 3:10.
Marquis Larmond fell in his first round by a technical as well as his second by a 7-2 decision.
Mahmoud Esa fell in both his first match (pin at 1:48) and his second by a 3-1 decision.
Francis Whitehouse also lost both of his matches. In his first, he fell by a 2:12 pin, and in his second he lost by a 16-0 technical fall.
Elvis Vasquez competed in the 149-pound weight class for the Green and Gold. After falling in his first match at 2:41, he won his second by a pin at 6:16. Vasquez would fall in his third match at 2:36.
Sam Grey fell in both his matches, first by a 6-1 decision and then by a pin at 1:48.
Michael Fronczak fell in his first bout by technical fall in the 157-pound weight class. He followed that up by pinning his opponent in his second match at 0:40. He lost his final match by a 17-3 major decision.
Matthew Cestare lost both matches. He fell by a 15-4 major in his first and a pin at 3:44 in his second.
Matthew Kline in the 165-pound weight class received a first-round BYE. Then he lost by a 13-1 major decision in his second match. He then received another bye before winning in a 5-3 sudden victory, a 3-2 decision, and then falling in his third in a 14-3 major decision.
Gavin McLaughlin received a BYE before falling by pin at 1:51 in his first match. McLaughlin won his second by a 4-2 decision before falling in the third round 7-4.
Jared Zenie fell in the first round by a 9-4 decision, before receiving a second-round BYE and falling again in the third, by an 8-3 decision.
Michael Sullivan also received a BYE but fell in his second and third matches. He fell by a 5-2 decision in his second match before falling by an 8-3 decision in his third.
Boaz Smart also competed in the 197-pound weight class. He won his first match by a pin at 4:05 before falling at 2:33 in his second and losing because of a medical forfeit in his third match of the day.
Nick Franco placed sixth in the 285-pound weight class. He won his first match of the day 8-2. He fell in his second 6-0 before winning his third 11-4, and fourth 6-3. He fell again in his fifth 9-2 and sixth match 6-0, earning him 6
th at the tournament.
Joe Yanis placed fourth in the 285-pound weight class. He won his first match 9-0 and his second 12-2. He fell in his third 2-0 before winning his fourth 2-0. He fell in his final match 5-0, landing him fourth overall.

Senior Night: After the WPI Tri-Match, the Golden Eagles will head back home for Senior Night on February 1st at 7 pm against RIT, who is currently ranked 18
th nationally in dual contests. A short ceremony will be held before the contest honoring the Brockport seniors
