Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport Men's and Women's swimming and diving team both beat Monroe Community College on Friday afternoon. The men won by 116 points to 87 points. The women won 151 to 53.
The Women kicked the meet off with a record-breaking relay. The team of
Miya Vitale,
Addy Martino,
Emily LeFrois-Heath and
Sawyer Parker touched the pads first with a time of 4:07.26 breaking a 33-year-old pool record from 1989, in the 400-yard Medley Relay. The original record was 4:12.62, 5.5 seconds slower than the women this afternoon.
Hannah Pauly and
Esther Zadov took first and second the 1650-yard freestyle. Pauly touched first with a time of 20:30.28 followed by Esther with a 20:43.64.
Nicole Orcutt touched first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.34, as well as the 50-yard butterfly (28.70).
Parker touched first in the 100free with a time of 56.19.
Lefrois-Heath touched first in the 50-back with a time of 29.07.
Martino placed first in the 50breast with a time of 33.02.
Qian Rappazzo (1:08.99),
Sam Whitman (1:11.49) and
Teagan Makuch (1:14.69) took 1-2-3 in the 100-yard IM. Rappazzo alos placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:58.09.
Parker, Orcutt, LeFrois-Heath and Vitale brought it home with a 1:44.95 first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Down in the well
Kyra Russ and
Caroline Rossi took first and second. Russ scored a 285.37 on the 3-meter diving event, breaking the record previously held since 2011. Russ scored a 252.45 placing first and breaking another school record, previously held since 2017. Russ officially earned her spot at NCAA Regionals.
Rossi placed second on the 3-meter with a score of 198.89.
The Men placed first in the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Matt Chan, Luca Olivieri, Joe Keeney and Jace Fredericksen, touching the pads at 3:54.52.
Fredericksen placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.69, as well as in the 500 with a time of 5:09.32.
Joe Keeney placed first in the 100-yard Indivual Medley with a time of 1:02.05.
Olivieri placed first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.83.
Chan placed first in the 50-back with a time of 28.35.
The team of Joe Keeney, Gavin Stone, Garrett Nanna and Luca Olivieri placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Down in the well Kurt Mueller placed second in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 252.82. Ren took second in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 218.02, and third on the 1-meter with a score of 241.50.
The teams will return to James B. Fulton for their Senior Day and Chuck A Duck Tri-Meet vs. Alfred State and Fredonia, Saturday, January 28
th at 1pm.
