Men's Soccer Travels for SUNYAC Battles Against Fredonia & #11 Cortland

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's soccer team is on the road for a pair of SUNYAC matches this week. First the Golden Eagles will take on Fredonia, Wednesday at 7pm, and then they will head to SUNY Cortland for a 1pm game on Saturday.
 
Last Time Out: Over this past weekend, the Green and Gold hosted New Paltz for the Homecoming Weekend game. In a hard-fought match on both sides, the game resulted in a draw at 0-0. With the fourth tie of the season, Brockport moved to 6-2-4 overall and 3-0-2 in the conference. The draw earned the team a point in the SUNYAC conference standings.
 
Conference Standings: Following the draw with New Paltz, the Golden Eagles have 11 total points now in the SUNYAC Standings. At 3-0-2 they are tied with New Paltz for second in the conference, behind only Cortland's 12 points. With the SUNYAC Tournament rapidly approaching, every point matters in locking up a spot in the postseason. Here is the full listing of the current conference standings:

Recent Scorers: Over the course of the last four games, the Green and Gold have found the back of the net eight times. Russ Domm has scored three goals during this stretch, including the game-winners against Oswego and Oneonta. Giovanni Cardona contributed one goal against Oswego and an assist against Oneonta. Max Voyer scored a pair in the win over Houghton to go with goals from Chuck Domm and Warren Banks. Brady Reinagel tallied two assists, while Evan Stevely had one during this four-game span.
 
Protecting the Net: Andrew Taylor and Trevor Clark both recorded shutouts last week for Brockport. Clark made five saves in his first ever start for the Golden Eagles, getting the victory in net against Houghton. Taylor earned the clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with New Paltz, making seven saves in the match. The team has recorded five shutouts on the season, with Taylor getting credit for four of them.
 
Scouting Fredonia: Heading into the midweek matchup with Brockport, the Fredonia Blue Devils are 5-4-4 overall and 1-4-1 in the conference. This past weekend they lost at home to Plattsburgh, 2-1, after giving up a pair of second half goals. #6 Brian Taylor leads the team with 19 points from seven goals and five assists. #24 Kaleb Steward in the other leading goal scorer, finding the back of the net six times on the year.
 
Clash with Cortland: Saturday's meeting with No. 11 Cortland will mark the fourth time in a row the Golden Eagles will face a nationally-ranked Red Dragons squad. Brockport has won each of the previous three meetings, including a 3-2, last second victory in the 2022 SUNYAC Semifinals. Cortland enters this week 10-2-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The team's leading scorer is #9 Matt Schultz, tallying 23 points on nine goals and five assists. #7 Jack Coleman and #11 Yasin Choukri each have 18 points on the year, while the two have combined for 15 goals. Goalkeeper #1 Jordan Ott has started all 13 games in net, making 32 saves and recording six shutouts.
 
Up Next: After this weekend the Golden Eagles will enter the final week of the regular season, with just two more games remaining before the postseason. They will host Geneseo at 7pm on Wednesday before heading to Potsdam at 1pm on Saturday.
