Brockport, NY – In the SUNYAC Semifinals match against Oneonta, the Golden Eagle men's soccer team lost at home, 1-0. Brockport is eliminated from the SUNYAC Tournament, while Oneonta advances to the championship game on Saturday at Cortland.
In a rematch of the 2022 SUNYAC Finals, both Brockport and Oneonta went scoreless through the first 45 minutes. The Golden Eagles had an 8-5 shot advantage in the opening half, but Nate Hanna made six saves for the Red Dragons in net.
Andrew Taylor made on save in the first half to help keep the game knotted up at 0-0 going into halftime. These two teams would come out with a higher level intensity after halftime.
The visiting Red Dragons broke the tie early in the second half. At 51:24, Joe Holder scored with the assist from Luigi Prosperi to put Oneonta up 1-0. Although Brockport had five shots on goal in the second half, Hanna made each save to keep Brockport off the board.
Hanna finished with 11 stops in net, while
Andrew Taylor had four saves in the game for the Green and Gold. Holder's goal would be the lone score of the match, as Oneonta survives and advances to the SUNYAC Finals.
The Golden Eagles run in the conference tournament comes to an end with Wednesday's loss in the semifinals. They await the possibility of earning an at-large bid for the NCAA Division III Championships.
