Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey program heads into a week of non-conference play. Brockport will head to Geneva, NY to face the reigning National Champions, the Hobart Statesmen on Tuesday night at 7pm. Brockport will then head to the Skidmore Thanksgiving Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The men will face off against Salve Regina at 5pm to begin the weekend.
Weekend Recap: The SUNY Brockport ice hockey team fell to the Oswego State Lakers, 2-1, in a tough battle at home last Friday night.
Brockport put up a total of 11 shots in the first period to Oswego's 13. Both team's battled but the game remained scoreless going into the first intermission tied at 0-0.
Rocco Andreacchi scored for the Lakers unassisted at 2:17 in the second period to make it a 1-0 lead for Oswego.
Nick Serafin answered the call sending the puck into the back of the net, tying up the score with his first collegiate goal.
Jacob Rodrigue picked up his second assist of the season on the play, while
Ben Saurbaugh earned his first assist. The Golden Eagles headed into the third intermission tied 1-1 with the Lakers.
Oswego broke the tie at 11:10 in the third, going up 2-1 late in the contest. Brockport pulled the goalie looking for help from an extra skater but was unable to find the equalizer.
Both teams were successful on the penalty kill, as neither team netted a power play goal. Brockport recorded a total of 38 shots to Oswego's 31 on the night.
Dylan Wiemer spent nearly the full 60:00 minutes in goal, allowing two goals and making 29 saves.
The Golden Eagles fell to the Cortland Red Dragons last Saturday, 6-2. After this weekend of conference play, Brockport is 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
Connor Galloway drew first blood scoring his first goal of the season at 1:27 in the first period, assisted by
Josh Grund and
Scott Ramaekers. Cortland answered almost instantly scoring at 2:39 in the first to tie the game up. That was followed by a second Cortland goal at 15:39 to enter the first intermission up 2-1.
The Red Dragons opened the second period with a goal at 8:32.
Josh Grund answered the call with a goal at 14:04 in the second making the score 3-2. Grund was assisted by
Jacob Rodrigue and Galloway on the play. The Golden Eagles trailed by just one goal heading into the third period.
Cortland scored three goals in the third period, pulling away at the end to secure a 6-2 win at home.
Brockport recorded a total of 29 shots to Cortland's 37. The Green and Gold won 36 face-offs to Cortland's 25 and only recorded one penalty.
Dylan Wiemer played 60:00 minutes in goal, making a total of 31 saves and allowing six goals.
Looking at the Statesmen: Hobart is 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the NEHC. They lost to Oswego state 2-3 in OT in their first game of the season and recently lost to Babson College 1-3. The team has a total of 37 goals to 348 shots, averaging 4.6 goals a game. The team is 11 for 26 on the power play and 24 for 24 on the penalty kill this season. Their leading scorer is #62 Chris Duclair with 8 goals. Following him is #12 Luke Aquaro with 6 goals and 3 assists. #82 Tanner Hartman has recorded 5 goals and 1 assist so far this season.
In goal for the Statesmen is Damon Beaver, Graham Burke and Mavrick Goyer. Beaver has spent 240:28 minutes in goal this season, allowing 3 goals and making 85 saves. Beaver averages letting up .75 goals a game and has an overall save percentage of .966%. Burke has spent 60:00 minutes in goal making 14 saves and allowing one goal. He averages allowing one goal a game and has a save percentage of .933%. Goyer has seen 178:01 minutes on the ice this season allowing 3 goals and making 39 saves. He averages one goal against a game and has a save percentage of .929%.
Looking at Salve Regina: The Seahawks are 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the NEWMAC, their one loss coming from a 1-2 game against Albertus Magnus. The team has a total of 41 goals throughout 9 games and average 4.56 goals a game. They have recorded a total of 327 shots so far this season and 10 power play goals. They are 31 for 37 on the penalty kill and have a kill percentage of 85.7%. #8 Matthew Fawcett is their leading scorer with 8 goals and 7 assists. #22 Johnny Mulera is right behind him with 14 points, 5 goals and 9 assists.
In goal for the Seahawks is Cayden Bailey, Anthony Del Tufo, Levi Mitchell and Shelby Warren. Bailey has spent 419:49 in goal this season making 201 saves, allowing 10 goals, giving him an overall save percentage of .953%. Warren has spent 120:00 minutes in goal making 56 saves, allowing 4 goals, giving him an overall save percentage of .933%.
Following this week of play, Brockport will return to the Wegmans Ice Arena for a big weekend of conference play and special events. The Golden Eagles will be celebrating their 50

st and 2
nd. On Friday December 1
st, Brockport will host the Buffalo State Bengals for their annual Teddy Bear Toss charity game. The following night the men will be hosting Fredonia State for their 50 years of Varsity Ice Hockey Celebration game.
