Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey program will be heading on the annual north country road trip this weekend. On Friday, November 10
th the Golden Eagles will face Potsdam at 7pm followed by a 4pm game on Saturday at Plattsburgh State.
Last Time on the Ice: The Golden Eagles fell, 6-2, to the Geneseo Knights in the first SUNYAC matchup of the 2023-2024 season.
Geneseo struck first halfway through the first period, followed by a goal from
Chase Maxwell putting the Golden Eagles on the board. Maxwell's first goal of the season was assisted by
Connor Galloway sending Brockport into the first intermission tied at 1-1.
With a pair of scores in the second, Geneseo regained the lead.
Dominic Chirico sent the puck into the back of the net for the Green and Gold, scoring his first collegiate goal assisted by
Spencer Flansburg. However, the Knights went on to bury three more goals in the third to put the game away for the 6-2 final.
Dylan Wiemer spent 60:00 minutes in goal for the Green and Gold on the night, as the squad moves to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
Brockport will head up north next weekend to face SUNY Potsdam and Plattsburgh State in a pair of SUNYAC games.
Looking at the Bears: SUNY Potsdam is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference going into this Friday's matchup. The SUNYAC loss this season was to Morrisville with a final score of 5-4. Looking at the Cardinals: Plattsburgh State is 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference heading into this Saturday's match up. The Cardinals beat SUNYAC opponent Morrisville last weekend, 5-1. The team has 17 goals to 128 shots so far this season and average 5.7 goals a game. They are 8-for-15 on the power play and 2-for-019 on the penalty kill. Their leading scorer is #10 Joshua Belgrave with three goals and two assists. #25 Paul Bryer also leads the team with five points so far this season, with two goals and three assists.
In goal for the Cardinals is Eli Shiller and Jacob Hearne. Shiller has spent 60:00 minutes in goal this season allowing three goals and making 17 saves, giving him an overall save percentage of .850%.
