Brockport Swim & Dive Earns Win for Women & Tie for Men at Oswego

Oswego, NY – On Saturday, December 2nd the Golden Eagle swim and dive team was on the road for a dual meet against Oswego State. They took the win on the women's side, 183-115, and earned a rare tie in the men's competition, 140-140.
 
Women's Highlights
 
With a strong showing at Oswego to take the victory, the Brockport women improved to 2-2 on the season in dual meets.
 
In the 200-yard medley relay, Brockport took both first and second place. The group of Miya Vitale, Addy Martino, Maddie Erhardt, and Emma Butler won the race with a time of 1:58.45. Coming in second with a time of 1:59.09 was the team of Corinne Wilson, Kyla Bugbee, Emily LeFrois-Heath, and Sarah Kilburn.
 
LeFrois-Heath took first on her own in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.37. Martino won the 100-yard breaststroke race with a time of 1:12.51. Bugbee would take third in the same event with a 1:17.16.
 
Sarah Kilburn (1:05.88) and Corinne Wilson (1:09.64) finished first and second in the 100-yard backstroke race. Kilburn also took first place in the 100-yard freestyle event with a 56.89.
 
Hannah Pauly swam a 12:23.25 for third place in the 1,000-yard freestyle race. With a time of 2:38.96, Maddie Erhardt placed third in the 200-yard butterfly.
 
Emily LeFrois-Heath won another event with a 26.20 time in the 50-yard freestyle. Madison Parobek swam a 26.74 in the race for third place.
 
Vitale swam a 2:17.28 to win the 200-yard backstroke, while Parobek took third with her 2:22.02. Parobek also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:27.15.
 
Addy Martino won the 200-yard breaststroke by clocking in at 2:37.89. Kyla Bugbee finished third in the race with her time of 2:51.77.
 
In the 500-yard freestyle it was LeFrois-Heath again taking the win with her time of 5:42.61. Emilena Wilck was right behind her in second place with a 5:54.91.
 
Erhardt swam a time of 1:05.21 to win the 100-yard butterfly race.
 
Madison Parobek, Corinne Wilson, Emma Butler, and Sarah Kilburn worked together for a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:47.48). The group of Maddie Erhardt, Emma Purvis, Leah Allen-Comella, and Elvira Castro-Martin took third in the event (1:49.61).
 
Kyra Russ led a strong showing from the divers with first place on the 3-meter board (245.70) and the 1-meter (240.70). Emma Conner was second in both events with scores of 209.20 on the 1-meter and 206.65 on the 3-meter. Caroline Rossi took third in the 1-meter competition with a 173.20. 

Men's Highlights
 
In rare draw in the pool, the Brockport men move to 0-3-1 overall on the season in dual competition.
 
Jace Fredericksen swam a 11:03.20 for first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle event. Teammate Michael Laviani placed third with his time of 11:24.34.
 
In the 200-yard freestyle Luca Olivieri snagged second with his 1:49.95, just .20 behind the event winner. Fredericksen was third in the race at 1:56.75.
 
Matt Cole (1:00.54) and Garrett Nanna (1:04.92) took second and third respectively in the 100-yard backstroke event. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Josh Lauzonis finished second with a time of 1:12.56.
 
Matthew Chan swam a 2:12.74 for first place in the 200-yard butterfly competition. Jack Olsian took third place in the 50-yard free with a time of 23.06. Chan came back with another winning time of 57.99 in the 100-yard butterfly.
 
In the 100-yard freestyle Alex Scaglione finished second with his time of 51.05. Luca Olivieri (2:06.55) and Matt Cole (2:16.20) earned second and third in the 200-yard backstroke.
 
Lauznois swam a time of 2:40.00 to take second place in the 200-yard breaststroke. Jace Fredericksen's 5:24.09 earned first place in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing just ahead of teammate Mike Laviani's 5:24.72.
 
Olivieri snagged a win in the 200-yard individual medley thanks to his time of 2:04.06.
 
The 200-yard freestyle relay team won a close race with its time of 1:31.78. Jack Olsian, Garrett Nanna, Alex Scaglione, and Luca Olivieri edged out Oswego's team by .47 seconds.
 
Ren Watson was uncontested in both the 3-meter and 1-meter diving competitions. Finishing with scores of 241.70 (3-meter) and 200.55 (1-meter), Ren grabbed some crucial points for Brockport.
 
The Golden Eagles will now have a break from competition until January 13th when they travel to Hobart and William Smith College. The meet is set for a 1pm start time on that Saturday.
