Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles fell, 7-0, to the No. 6 Elmira Soaring Eagles this Saturday afternoon at home. Brockport will end the first half of the season with an overall record of 5-8-1 and 3-5 in the SUNYAC conference.
Elmira scored one goal in the first at 16:49, sending the Golden Eagles into the first intermission down by one. They outshot the visiting Soaring Eagles in the first, 10-7, but trailed 1-0 heading into the second period.
In the second, Elmira got hot with four goals in the period. Shane Haviland scored at 2:37 followed by another Soaring Eagle goal at 5:40. Two more goals were scored at 10:05 and 11:10 ending the second period with a 5-0 edge on the scoreboard against the Golden Eagles.
Elmira scored two more goals in the third period, making the final score on the night 7-0.
David Filak started in goal, playing 31:10 minutes on the ice. Filak gave up five goals and made 13 saves.
Trevor Joule stepped on the ice for the first time this season, playing 28:50 in goal. Joule gave up two goals and made 15 saves in his debut.
Brockport will take a break before traveling to SUNY Canton on Friday, January 5
th then returning home to host Canton on the 6
th.
