Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport Men's Ice Hockey team will be playing their final game of the 2022-2023 season this Saturday, February 18
th at SUNY Geneseo. Puck drop will be at 7pm.
In the YAC: Andrew Harley and
Connor Galloway remain at the top of the conference for most points, tied for second with 28 points, along with Buffalo States Glamos.
Harley is ranked third for most goals with 13 and Galloway is fifth with 12.
Galloway is fourth in the conference for most assists with 16.
Alex Monteleone moves up three places this week and is now tied for eighth place in the conference for the highest +/- rating. Monteleone is now +14 after Brockport's big weekend.
Nolan Egbert is ranked sixth in the conference for most saves with 448. Egbert is seventh for win percentage with .429%.
Aidan Curry is ranked fifth for his save percentage of .922% and ninth for win percentage with .333%.
Weekend Recap: In a must-win game at home, the Golden Eagles defeated Fredonia in overtime, 5-4, to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Connor Galloway scored the game-winner in overtime to keep the squad in contention for a spot in the conference tournament.
Fredonia struck first with a goal at 12:44 from Ryan Bailey. Two minutes later Bryce Witman capitalized on a power play opportunity scoring Fredonia's second goal at 15:02.
After being held scoreless in the first, Brockport entered the first intermission down 2-0.
Scott Ramaekers put the Green and Gold on the board with a goal 47 seconds into the second period. Ramaekers was assisted by teammate
Alex Monteleone on the play.
Brockport kept it rolling with a shorthanded goal from
Andrew Harley.
Manny Sanchez sent the puck to Harley during a 2-on-1 breakaway, allowing Harley to tuck the puck in the back of the net tying the score at 2-2.
Fredonia struck back as Jack Blackwell scored at 13:15 in the second. However,
Connor Galloway provided the answer with the final goal of the second period at 14:51, assisted by Harley and Sanchez. The Golden Eagles and Blue Devils went into the third period tied, 3-3, with major postseason implications on the line.
The third period kicked off with a power play goal from Fredonia's Gregg Lee, who put the final Fredonia goal on the board.
Adam Beauvais scored at 5:33 in the third, assisted by Monteleone. The Golden Eagles comeback effort tied the game up at 4-4, as the two conference opponents were headed to overtime.
Fredonia begin the overtime down a man, giving the Green and Gold a 4-on-3 advantage. Monteleone found Galloway who buried the puck in Fredonia's net, scoring the game-winning, power play goal just 1:45 into overtime.
With the 5-4 win, Brockport remained in contention for a spot in the postseason with two more regular season games left to play.
Aidan Curry goes home with 38 saves and a win in net. Curry allowed four goals and played a total of 61:25 minutes in Friday Night's contest.
The following night the Men traveled to Buffalo State where they pushed through an action-packed game to beat Buffalo State, 5-3, on the road. The squad is now 10-14 overall and 5-10 in SUNYAC play with just one regular season game left.
The Buffalo State Bengals struck first with two early goals in the first period. Nick Stuckless scored just 46 seconds into the game. Less than two minutes later at 2:22, Nikita Kozyrev netted the Bengals second goal of the night, as they earned a quick 2-0 lead.
The Golden Eagles answered quickly by taking advantage of a power play opportunity.
Connor Galloway buried the puck in the back of the net at 3:24 in the first to make it a 2-1 game. Galloway was assisted by
Andrew Harley and
Scott Ramaekers on the play.
Exactly four minutes later
Andrew Harley scored Brockport's second of the night, tying the score up at an even 2-2. Harley was assisted by
Jordan Rosenbaum and
Manny Sanchez, 7:24 into the first period.
To cap off a fast-paced opening period,
Zach Norby got on the board 16:31 into the first. Norby was assisted by
Chris Aarons and
Manny Sanchez, as Brockport held a 1-goal lead going into the first intermission.
Zach Norby was a big part of the Golden Eagle offense on the night, as he kept the momentum going for Brockport in the second. At 13:42 into the period, he scored his second of the night. In a tense and physical second period, Norby was assisted by
Manny Sanchez and
Nick Serafin.
Serafin recorded his first collegiate point, as the Green and Gold had the lone goal of the second period. The team headed into the third with a 4-2 advantage on the scoreboard.
Showing signs of life to start the third, Michael McCosh scored what would be Buffalo State's final goal of the night just 1:04 into the period. The Bengals still trailed, 4-3, with plenty of time remaining.
14:41 into the third period,
Scott Ramaekers locked up the insurance goal the Golden Eagles needed. Ramaekers was assisted by
Andrew Harley and
Ryan Brow earning the men the, 5-3, victory.
Nolan Egbert did his job on the backline for the Golden Eagles defense. He made 27 saves during his 60 minutes in net tonight, allowing three goals in the win.
Despite picking up two big wins this weekend, Fredonia's win over Geneseo on Saturday officially knocks the Golden Eagles out of postseason contention.
Looking at The Ice Knights: SUNY Geneseo is 16-6-2 overall and 10-4-1 going into this Saturday's match up. Geneseo has a total of 84 goals this season to 869 shots. They average 3.5 goals a game and their leading scorers are Stefan Miklakos with 13 goals, and Peter Morgan and Domenic Garozzo each with 11.
Between the pipes for the Ice Knights are Adam Harris, Matt Petizian and Christan Roth. Harris has seen 362:58 minutes in net, making 150 saves. Harris has allowed 10 goals, giving him a save percentage of .938% Petizian has seen 1081:37 minutes in goal making 466 saves. He has allowed 34 goals, giving him a save percentage of .932%.
