Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team will host Fredonia State Friday, February 10
that 7pm, in the Wegmans Ice Arena. The following night the team will travel to Buffalo to play Buffalo State at 7pm.
In the YAC: Andrew Harley and
Connor Galloway spent another week near the top of the SUNYAC in total points. Galloway is second with 25 points, one below Buffalo State's Kozyrev. Harley is tied for fourth with Clark from Morrisville and Stockdale from Plattsburgh with 23 points.
Harley is tied for third in the SUNYAC for most goals, with 11 this season. Galloway is tied for leading conference in assists with 16.
Alex Monteleone has a plus minus rating of +11, which is tied for 14th in the SUNYAC.
Aidan Curry is ranked fourth in the conference for his save percentage of .925%.
Nolan Egbert is ranked 10th with a percentage of .900%.
Last Weekend Recap: The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team fell, 3-2, on the road at SUNY Cortland on Friday night. After going down 3-0, Brockport nearly completed the comeback in the third before running out of time.
Both
Josh Grund and
Connor Galloway scored goals for the Green and Gold, with Galloway,
Jake Mendeszoon, and
Scott Ramaekers all earning assists. Galloway extends his point streak to eight games after the contest.
After a first period with nothing on the board for either team, the conference opponents entered the first intermission tied at 0-0.
Cortland owned the second period, taking advantage of Brockport penalties with three power play goals. Nick Grupp struck first at 1:16 in the second. Johnny Facchini was close behind with a goal at 3:32. Trevor Veneklse scored Cortland's final goal of the night at 8:11 in the second.
The Golden Eagles entered the final period, trailing the Red Dragons 3-0.
Brockport turned up the intensity in the third period with a pair of goals, looking to mount a comeback.
Josh Grund scored at 6:06 in the third after receiving the puck from
Connor Galloway and
Jake Mendeszoon.
Galloway scored the final goal of the night on a power play at 11:47 in the third. He was assisted by fellow captain
Scott Ramaekers. The squad had a few more chances down the stretch to tie the game up, but Cortland held off the comeback attempt for the 3-2 win.
Aidan Curry played between the pipes tonight for the Green and Gold. Curry made a total of 32 saves in 59:14 minutes of action, allowing three goals.
The following night the team lost, 4-1, at home to Oswego State. The Golden Eagles are now 8-14 overall on the season and 3-10 in conference play.
For the second time this weekend the men went into the first intermission tied at 0-0 with a clean slate going into the second. Oswego outshot Brockport, 20-11, in the opening period but both goalies were up for the challenge to keep the game scoreless.
The game came alive in the second with a goal at 9:11 from Oswego State's Noah Bull. The first score was soon followed by a power play goal from Oswego's Jackson Arcan, putting the visiting Lakers up 2-0.
Brockport had an answer with a power play goal of its own before the end of the period.
Alex Monteleone struck back at 18:52 in the second to make it a 2-1 score, with assists coming from
Scott Ramaekers and
Josh Grund.
The Golden Eagles entered the final period down by just one, but Oswego would close the game out in the third. The Lakers scored twice more in the third to put the game away, 4-1.
Between the pipes Saturday Night for the Golden Eagles was
Nolan Egbert. Egbert made a total of 41 saves and allowed four goals.
Looking at The Blue Devils: Fredonia State is 6-14 overall and 4-8 in the conference heading into the weekend's SUNYAC Match up. They have a total of 48 goals and 572 shots. They average 2.40 goals a game and 28.6 shots. Fredonia's leading scorers are Ryan Bailey with nine goals and Bryce Witman with six.
Fredonia has three goalies: Charles-Anthony Barbeau, Logan Dyck and Dalton Jerzak. Barbeau has seen 103:53 minutes in goal, making 52 saves, allowing seven goals. He has a total save percentage of .881%. Dyck has seen 973:03 minutes on the ice, making 559 saves, allowing 60 goals this season. His total save percentage is .903%. Jerzak has seen 128:36 minutes in goal, making 62 saves, and allowing five goals. His save percentage on the season is .925%.
Looking at The Bengals: Buffalo State is 13-8 overall and 8-4 in the conference, going into Saturday's match up. The Bengal's have a total of 76 goals to 620 shots and average 3.6 goals a game. Their leading scorers are Nikita Kozyrev and Tyler Vanuden both with eleven goals.
Between the pipes for the Begnals are Emil Norrman, Reilly Moyer and Liam Gross. Norrman has seen 1139:03 minutes on the ice, making 685 saves. He has allowed 47 goals, giving him a save percentage of .936%. Moyer has seen 59:27 minutes in net, making 28 saves allowing seven goals giving him a save percentage of .903%. Gross has seen a total of 56:11 on the ice this year allowing him to make 28 saves. He has allowed three goals giving him a save percentage of .800%.
Following this weekend of conference play the Golden Eagles will have their final regular season game of the 2022-2023 season, Saturday, February 18
th at 7pm at SUNY Geneseo.
