Baseball Goes 1-1 for the Day Down in Oneonta

Oneonta, NY – The SUNY Brockport Baseball program went 1-1 today in a SUNYAC double header against the Red Dragons. Brockport lost their first game 2-3 but came back to win the second 3-1.
 
Game One – Matthew Coliucci started the day on the mound for the Green and Gold. He pitched five innings, struck out three batters, let up five hits and three runs.
 
Nicholas Pastore got the ball rolling with a single to left field, he then stole second. Zach Eldred hit a single to left center bringing Pastore home for the first run of the day. Eldred then stole second. James Houlahan singled to right center, bringing Eldred home for the Golden Eagles final run of the first game. 
 
Pastore hit a double to left field in the top of the third, and Eldred singled to right field.
 
Oneonta scored their only three runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.
 
In the top of the fifth Justin Pangburn hit a single to right field. The game ended 3-2, with runs only in the first and fourth innings.
 
Anthony Lapine pitched the last three innings for the Green and Gold striking out four batters and letting up one hit.
 
Game Two – Colin Pytlak pitched the first 7.2 innings on the mound for the Green and Gold, striking out seven batters, letting up six hit and one run. 
 
Oneonta scored their first and only run of the game in the bottom of the second.
 
Brockport scored all three of their runs in the top of the third. Nick Mahar was walked, putting him on first when Quinn Mahoney was up to bat. Mahoney singled to right field, allowing Mahar to advance to second. Pangburn singled to the shortstop and Mahar and Mahoney advanced bases. Pastore reached first on an error by the short stop, brining both Mahar and Mahoney home for two runs. Eldred singled down the left field line, batting Pastore home for the Golden Eagles final run of the game.
 
Brockport had two hits in the top of the seventh when Johnny Genau singled to the short stop. Mahar singled to left field, allowing Genau to advance to second. Mahoney was hit by a pitch and walked, leaving the bases load. The men were left on base as no one could bat them in.
 
Eldred hit a single in the top of the eight and stole second but was not brought home.
 
Nick Ianniello Pitched 1.1 innings on the mound, striking out two batters across four at bats.
 
Brockport will be back at home to host RIT on Tuesday, April 11th, at 3:30pm at the Clark V. Whited Complex.
