Cortland, NY – The SUNY Brockport baseball team lost 3-1 on Saturday against Cortland State in the SUNYAC Conference Tournament.
Matthew Colucci started on the mound for the Green and Gold pitching 5.1 innings, letting up five hits, two runs and three walks. He also struck out two batters across 20 at bats in a loss.
Nicholas Pastore started the game with a single through the right side of the field. Eldred singled up the middle and Pastore advanced to second.
Patrick Bigham flew out to right field and Pastore advanced to third. Both Eldred and Pastore were left on base.
Brockport struck first, scoring in the top of the second inning.
Justin Pangburn doubled to left field and then stole third.
James Houlahan was walked.
David Belsito hit a single to left field and batted in Pangburn. Houlahan and Belsito were left on base at the end of the second inning.
Cortland scored its first run in the bottom of the third inning. In the top of the fourth Genau singled with a bunt but was left on base. In the bottom of the fifth the Red Dragons scored their second run of the game. In the bottom of the seventh they scored their third and the final run of the game.
Anthony Lapine pitched 2.1 innings, letting up one run and two hits. He struck out two batters across nine at bats.
Justin DelVecchio pitched 0.1 innings striking out one batter.
On Sunday these two teams will face each other once again with the SUNYAC Title on the line. No. 2 Brockport and No. 1 Cortland will play for the championship starting at noon.
