Men's Soccer Heads to Fisher to Begin Week on the Road

Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagle men's soccer team is on the road for three consecutive road games this week. They start on Wednesday night at 7pm against St. John Fisher. Brockport will then head to Messiah University for a 7pm start on Friday and will play Gettysburg at 7pm on Saturday.

A Pair of Exciting Finishes: Brockport hosted both RIT and Elmira for opening weekend. The team ended the homestand 1-0-1 after two exciting finishes at home. In the season opener against RIT, Chuck Domm scored the game-tying goal with just two minutes remaining on the clock. Domm's equalizer pushed the game to a draw after Brockport trailed late in the second half. In the second match, Elmira took an early 1-0 lead before the Golden Eagles came back. Josh Fitzpatrick scored the equalizer before halftime, assisted by Alex Rivara. Tied at 1-1, Dylan Rippe scored the game-winner with 18 seconds remaining off of an assist from Russ Domm.

Heading on the Road: The Golden Eagles are on the road all week for three straight non-conference games. It all starts with a 7pm battle against Fisher on Wednesday night. The team then travels to Pennsylvania for a 7pm game against Messiah University on Friday, September 8th. The weekend comes to a close with another 7pm matchup against Gettysburg on Saturday. In 2022, Brockport finished the year 3-2-6 overall in away games.

Matchup with Fisher: St. John Fisher goes into Wednesday night's matchup with an 0-2 record after opening weekend's action. The Cardinals fell to Elizabethtown, 1-0, and to Lebanon Valley, 5-0, to start the year. Fisher is still looking for its first goal of the season going into game three. Brockport is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings with the Cardinals, which included a 0-0 draw last season.

Looking at Messiah: The Messiah University Falcons are 2-0 to start the year, outscoring their opponents 8-0 early in the season. The Falcons scored four second-half goals in both games so far. They defeated The College of New Jersey and Catholic University of America by a score of 4-0. Sam Phillips leads the squad with two goals, while Patrick Lee has one score and an assist. Goalie Adam Carter has registered back-to-back shutouts to go with three saves in net.

Scouting Gettysburg: The Gettysburg Bullets are 0-1 to start the year following a 2-1 loss to Sewanee in the season opener. Chase Sempervive scored the lone goal for the Bullets, while goalie Kevin Muhic made one save and allowed two scores. Gettysburg will host Rutgers-Camden on Friday ahead of Saturday's battle with Brockport.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles will have a week to prepare for their next outing after a busy weekend on the road. They take on Ithaca College at home on Saturday, September 16th at 4pm for the next contest.
