Mechanicsburg, PA – The Golden Eagle men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Friday night to No. 12 Messiah University. They move to 2-1-1 on the year after falling, 2-0, on the road.
The nationally ranked Falcons controlled the action for most of the game, outshooting Brockport 21-3 in the game. They found the back of the net at 28:30 in the first half to go up 1-0.
The Green and Gold benefited from four, first-half saves by
Andrew Taylor to keep it a one goal deficit at halftime.
Alex Rivara fired off one of his two shot attempts of the game in the opening half. Rivara's second shot came in the second half along with
Evan Stevely's one shot attempt.
At the 57:17 mark in the match, Messiah's Cole Cristian netted his second goal of the game to put the Falcons up 2-0. Brockport was unable to find the back of the net to cut into the lead, resulting in the two-goal loss down in Pennsylvania.
The Golden Eagles are on the road again Saturday for a matchup with Gettysburg College Bullets. Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm at Clark Field in Gettysburg, PA.
