Rochester, NY- The Brockport men's soccer team dropped Wednesday's Empire 8 Semifinal game against St. John Fisher in penalty kicks (0-0, 4-1 shootout) on November 6^th.
 
Despite a 4-3 shot advantage for Brockport in the first half, the Cardinals would post the only three shots on net in the half. Goalie Andrew Taylor was up to the task, saving all three chances to enter the second half scoreless.
 
The Cardinals would continue to threaten in the second half, outshooting Brockport 10-6 with four shots on goal.
 
Russ Domm would threaten early with a scoring chance at the 55:25 mark of the contest but was denied by Christian Burkhart.
 
Following three big saves from Andrew Taylor, Peter Tinaj looked to break the tie at the 75:55 mark but was stopped by Burkhart of Fisher.
 
With less than 4 minutes left in regulation, Andrew Taylor would make a game-saving stop on Joey Avallone, sending the game into overtime.
 
The Green and Gold would hold the Cardinals shotless in the first overtime, with Russ Domm forcing another save by Burkhart to send the game into double overtime.
 
Despite a combined four shots in the second overtime, neither team could create a scoring chance, sending the Empire 8 Semifinals into the shootout.
 
Despite a shootout tally from Max Voyer, the Cardinals would convert on all four of their shoot chances, knocking Brockport out of the Empire 8 tournament.
 
Andrew Taylor left it all out on the field in his final game wearing the Green and Gold. Taylor would post seven saves without allowing a goal across 110:00 of action.
 
Russ Domm led the Golden Eagles with five shots (2 SOG), playing all 110:00 minutes in a strong effort.
 
Alex Rivara, Khadim Amar, and Giovanni Cardona played 110 minutes in a gritty effort for Brockport.
 
The Golden Eagles finished the 2024 season 7-6-5 overall with a 5-3-3 conference record.
